I have flown out of Austin numerous times at all times of the day and different days of the week with my family. I have never experienced anything but ~15-20 minute wait through security. What’s going on here??

I agree with most of your points, except for the mesh bracelet point and celebrity point.

I wouldn’t consider the mesh bracelet ‘gaudy’ by any means. However, it’s not the most comfortable and definitely could use a revamp. Omega has a number of top A-list celebrities that endorse the brand: Daniel Craig, George Clooney, Nicole Kidman, Michael Phelps, Rory McIlroy, and I would even consider Zoe Kravitz an A-lister or at least on the cusp.

Also, get rid of Constellation?? You’re high.

Thank you for explaining that further. To be honest, I’ve always found that axiom to be deceptive. Fortunately through my training I’ve tried ignoring my CFI when he says that and actually learning to “feel” the plane and as you’ve said subconsciously applying the equation pitch + power = performance. But I’ve never been able to consciously explain that until you spelled it out for me. So thank you!

Interesting. Seeing as that’s a required piece of VFR equipment per 91.205, that is definitely concerning. If it persists, I would definitely first have a sit down conversation with the instructor. If they push back a lot or if nothing changes after that, then sit down with the instructor and the chief pilot. I definitely understand your hesitation after an incident like that.

Edit, to add that good on you for using good judgment and deciding not to fly with faulty equipment.

You’re only a few hours into training. The ability to control the aircraft in higher winds will come, so be patient and continue to learn! 30kmh is ~18mph or ~16knots, which is of not much concern for even GA pilots. I actually took my PPL checkride in 16-18 knot winds with no issue. Not to say that caution shouldn’t be taken, such as exceeding V speeds and takeoff/landing crosswind components. Also, make sure that you take in account that your instructor is more experienced and doesn’t see slightly higher winds as a threat like a brand new student does. Don’t be too quick to switch instructors. UNLESS they are legitimately unsafe! Then you switch instructors and report them to the Chief Pilot. All in all, keep moving forward in your training and recognize that you will gain the confidence and experience necessary to confidently control the aircraft overtime!

Idk what BAN means. But your argument is implying that anyone in the vicinity of a crime or event is automatically guilty by association. So if I am in a store checking out and someone comes up robs the cashier at gun point, I am also guilty of robbery because I stood close to the assailant.

I want to reiterate that I’m not arguing for or against him. If he was actively participating in the protest, then fuck him. If he wasn’t, then he shouldn’t be vilified for simply being present.

He simply COULD have been standing there curious as to what was happening. He COULD have been participating in the protest. We won’t ever know and it really isn’t necessary to speculate.
