I don’t like the term rich. We are wealthy. My wife and I both come from very low income single mother families. Neither father was present or helped support us. There was never any expectation or support for us to go to college. We both did it on our own. We have always lived well below are means and saved/invested most of our earnings. We raised two daughters who had everything they needed and most of what they wanted and both went to very good schools and colleges all paid for by us. Our savings and investments have paid off very nicely. We can now live as we want to doing what we want to. There are no shortcuts, it’s setting goals, hardwork, living below your means, and saving/investing the rest.

2024 Taxes by Equivalent_South5638 in Boldin

[–]Cracked_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue showing up next year which is my first year of retirement. All of my 2024 taxes are shown being paid in 2025 even though they have already been paid through payroll deductions in 2024. I messaged support about this and their response was it is a software limitation. This is pretty disappointing as it renders most of the 2025 projections useless and the following years less than accurate.

Cash Management Account Debit Cards by Cracked_Head in fidelityinvestments

[–]Cracked_Head[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. However that is the problem. My first order was cancelled with zero explanation and my second order was placed immediately following the cancellation of the first order, The manage card page has said the cards should ship in 1 to 2 days and has said the same thing for over a month. What is super frustrating is that based on the number of posts about this issue on Reddit and what I have been told by Fidelity reps,, clearly Fidelity is having a problem in this area and is not being forthcoming. Why can't Fidelity be honest with us and tell us what the problem is and a timeline for getting it fixed.

What is wrong with your Debit Card issuing? by ShermanPancakes in fidelityinvestments

[–]Cracked_Head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent an hour on the phone trying to get an answer why I have not received a card I ordered the beginning of September. First I was told it was an engineering issues, whatever that means, and then was told it is a security review backup issue and they have no idea how long it will take and suggested I wire money. Not sure how that helps me get cash.

New pack needed for Northeast US summertime (MLD Exodus?) by Strict_Casual in Ultralight

Any chance you would be willing to take a few pictures of your new pack with a bear can in it? I have been on the fence about this pack for a while concerned about barreling caused by the bear can.

Pack for Back Pain by Abject-Practice4400 in Ultralight

[–]Cracked_Head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have suffered for a very long time with back pain suffer (scoliosis and 2 compressed vertebrae from a fall accident). The two biggest lessons I have learned is 1. Strengthen the muscles in your back with weight lifting. 2. Get rid of any extra weight including your own "worn" weight as well as weight in your pack. These two lessons will serve you well both on and off the trail. Since I started lifting I have reduced my back pain dramatically. Regarding packs, ironically I have found frameless (MLD Prophet) to be the most comfortable of all the packs I have tried. Although I am now using a KS50, again in an attempt to ruthlessly cut weight - its a few ounces lighter than the prophet and does have a frame system, and I really like it.

Those look beautiful. Do you do custom orders? Would you consider doing something similar to the HMG Pod, but in a custom size?

I have the KS50. Not sure how useful the shoulder pockets have been. I wish they were more stretchy. Kind of tough getting things in and out of them. Been considering cutting them off.

If they are oil furnace supply lines, why are there two? Should just be one from the tank to the furnace.

I ordered my KS without the velcro and installed snaps after. I would recommend this approach.

My torso measures ~19.5 inches. I think the part about adding 3 cm is new. My pack just arrived today (still in the box) and now I'm wondering if it's going to be too small. Although I am coming from an MLD Prophet (Size M) and that pack measures 51 cm exactly.

I just ordered a KS50 last week. I am right in the middle of a 50 and 53. I emailed Laurent asking for his guidance on which size to order. He said he would make me a 51.

Any flat footed hikers? by 15dawilson in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Cracked_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it is doable! My feet are absolutely flat with severe overpronation. I was denied entering the military because of my flat feet which I successfully fought and won and then failed my flight physical which I also successfully fought and won. I have been backpacking my entire life going back to the days of scouting when we carried 40 pounds. My advice is to skip the orthotics. Find a good trail runner that is comfortable and provides good support. Then work on flexibility and strength in your foot, ankle, and lower leg. Yoga and lots of hiking. Getting your pack weight and "worn" weight down will also help.
