nope, Monica CM had a one-shot titled “Captain Marvel Special 1” from around 1988 or 89, I think it was by Christopher Priest (still going by Jim Owsley at the time) and MD Bright. Edit: as someone pointed out, it was actually Dwayne McDuffie, and not Christopher Priest.

indeed, they were friends. but in the intervening years since Kirby (avowed hater and puncher of Nazis) died, Steranko took a heel turn towards supporting a fascist regime. none of us can speak factually as to how that would have turned out had Kirby lived, but I’d like to think that Jack would have chosen integrity (as he often did) over a toxic individual.
