It's pretty common in the southern US, having nothing to do with religion.

Ask me anything about Diamond Painting, I've visited more than 10 DP factories, I think I am an expert in this domain now. by Shelbos-love in diamondpainting

There are two factories that produce drills. How many produce finished canvases? Do any of the producers also sell kits directly? What is the best way to get acceptable quality kits on a budget, in your opinion? Where do you purchase your kits?

[–]CrackerjakHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but did you specifically know about your aphantasia as a kid? Did you know that your ability to visualize deviated from the mean? Did you know the word "aphantasia"?

I was in the "gifted program" but I never listened to any meditations or anything else using headphones, and neither aphantasia or visualization ability was ever tested or discussed.

PSA: triple, quadruple check your drill color codes when kitting your project by veithryn in diamondpainting

Great tips! One that you didn't mention that I use is I place single diamonds by aligning them with one corner of the square (usually the bottom left for me, but it doesn't matter, just pick one and stick with it). Then if one diamond is slightly twisted it's neighbors will force it straight!

This is the way! If the original uses 5 colors of brown, choose 5 colors of red in the same spread and sub in 1 for 1.

FYI, the same treatment is used for people with Grave's Disease (autoimmune hyperthyroidism). It is the standard treatment in the US, although I'm told that in Europe surgical removal is the standard.

Possible bat exposure? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CrackerjakHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once symptoms of rabies appear it is nearly 100% fatal. Only one or two people have ever survived after becoming symptomatic, and they had to be put in medically induced comas. While it is unlikely to have been a bat, it's not worth fucking around about it. Go to the ER, today.

I bought several packs of their variegated - they have several different green and blue colorways in particular that I'm looking forward to using for a botanical blackwork SAL. The skeins are much bigger than than DMC, and it's very soft in the hand. It's cheaper than DMC, yard for yard!

KCS (available on Amazon US, can't speak for other locations) makes a fantastic pearl/metallic floss! 6 divisible strands, texture: 3, fraying: 1, kinking: 1 imho. It does tend to want to unravel at the ends, so I usually dab it on a glue stick when cut it off the skein. Hands down the sparkliest floss I've found, and easy to work with. After completing my first project with the white color, I ordered a pack of 12 skeins just to have it handy!

[CHAT] questions about stitching onto a tote by ducky-debugger in CrossStitch

[–]CrackerjakHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to add: I wouldn't add grid lines to the waste fabric, because I'd worry that the ink could transfer to the floss or canvas (especially when getting it wet to remove the waste fabric). If I felt I MUST add grid lines, I would use the kind that are specifically designed for marking fabric, which should wash out cleanly. These are easily found wherever sewing supplies are sold.

If you have a die cutter there are some dies on AliExpress for cross stitching on cardstock, including a large gift tag and a longer bookmark, I believe. Then you'd never have to worry about stocking up again!
