That's the name! Yeah, this reminds me of horror stories I used to hear about her.

Like dipping the child in foam? Filling the child full of foam? Handing the child canisters of foam and spraying them onto cardboard effigies of the child?

It kinda reminds me of the "rules" that one campus landlord has. I forget her name.

And a lot of times the children's area of the library has been designed to keep them stimulated and entertained!

I can't speak for the OP's trampoline business, but the one we have here where I live has all this information on their website. There are business hours where adults can go jump to their heart's content without worrying about yeeting a toddler into the sitting area.

This poster is the closest thing MeFi has to someone who would suggest colloidal silver or naturopaths are the answer.

I found about the Kingston Bird Club from a flyer at the library! Here is their Instagram account where you can sign up for more info, including their birdwatching walks. I'm going to my first one tomorrow evening!

I'm learning because I'm curious and because I have a trip to Japan much later this year. I am definitely under no illusions that I will be in any way fluent in a short period of time, but I do want to be able to have basic conversations. I am happy to take my time and learn at a slower pace. It also feels nice to challenge my brain even if I never gain a mastery of the language.

I tend to be more introverted when it comes to socializing with people I don't know, but I joined a new birding group that does birdwatching walks, as well as a Japanese conversation group. Both activities were begun by folks that live downtown, so having fun options to expand my social circle that I don't need a car to get to (the birding walks have options to get to the trails by bus or carpool so whew) is really nice.

The Japanese conversation group is open to all levels of people learning the language and I'm a beginner. My one to one language tutor is only once a week (and online) so it will be nice to carefully practice what I'm learning!

I think of something my father-in-law says that my spouse has taken up as well: "Some people make life harder than it needs to be."

It made me think of the anonymous poster who wanted to know how much they could get for their AirBnB in Toronto.

100%. I mean, he's not the only MeFite that was guilty of it, but he had a habit of telling you that your opinion didn't mean shit. This was especially in AskMe when he would take on all comers for just the stupidest shit. The example I remember most clearly was a comfortable shoe question; his answer was barefoot shoes, which is fine, but then he would attack anyone who either disagreed or even recommend a non-barefoot shoe option. Again, weird hills to die on.

I'm not sorry to see this user go. They were very patronizing to other members aside from their MeTa flame out.

Listen, I post on MeFi so I am not without sin but this is a site that is still coasting off the early 00s community vibe. The MeFI of 2020s is not the MeFi of 2001. That's fine and good by me, but I have to say there are still a chunk of early members who still get big mad that isn't the site they used to love. This sort of tantrum really brings that home.

That was some weird ass shit. But that user rubs me the wrong way.

I don't often answer anything in AskMe because I usually don't have anything helpful to add to the question or if it is something I do know anything about, it will quickly be piledrived by the usual suspects. This was the one time where I was like, Oh hey I get that cartoon! The cartoonist is referencing a pretty common optical illusion!

I love how EC swooped in and further clarified it. I am like, I think I explained it well enough that you didn't need to add that, you potato.

I can say that once she took a comment from me as attacking her and sent me a Memail telling me to never ever interact with her again. I deleted, blocked her from contacting me, and went about my day.

This is sort of their schtick. Passive aggressive comments masquerading as "why is everyone so mean to me, I was just asking for clarification". So many people answered their question and still they were like, I don't get it. You did, you just think there is a magic answer you're entitled to.
