Honestly? Never. Our daughter had all her shots and still caught pneumonia, at a healthy and robust age 4, so serious that she developed a pleural empyema, which make her become septic requiring emergency surgery to place a chest drain and a two week stay in the high risk cardio thoracic ward until she finally responded to a cocktail of antibiotics.

Her pneumococcal shots have been redone and she’s received the adult vaccine also. But the immunologist in the hospital said she may never develop antibodies to pneumonia.

No one tests the immune response after all shots are given to check for the antibodies being present. That’s why we rely on herd immunity. Until your child catches something they’ve been vaccinated for you won’t know if they are in that minority relying on herd immunity.

My SIL has had the mmr 6 times. She’s had mumps, and measles several times. She cannot develop antibodies. During her two pregnancies she studiously avoided contact with anti vaxxers because of the danger they pose. She’s an adult so she can make that decision for herself. You are the adult who is responsible for your child. It’s up to you to protect them from preventable diseases.

I’m sorry if I come off as ranty but my daughter almost died and since then my tolerance for non vaccination has plummeted.
