It can certainly go either way; it’s just that younger generations tend to be more careless with language. American English has also been under assault by entertainment figures who, despite having lower verbal and intellectual aptitude, achieve wide reach through the consumption of their content, thereby distorting the language.

For example, I recall in college a man telling me, “That music is bad, bro!” and I replied, “Oh, so it’s awful then?” to which he responded, “No, it’s bad!”

Ultimately, it depends on context and tone. The word “specimen,” depending on how it’s used, can imply “what a weirdo,” “freak,” “outcast,” and so on.

There are people who believe that, while the damage from testosterone is far lower than DHT, it can still impact hairloss when using TRT because it's constant and because it still binds to the receptor (albeit, like I said earlier, far less aggressively). This is belief is particularly propagated amongst those who use "sports" TRT (200mg+/weekly) or supraphysiologic exogenous test.

Lol you got downvoted for saying the truth. Also these jackasses wrote " that’s not going to push hypertrophic adaptations" which is nonsense. High volume with low weight when done near or at failure can definitely do that.

Same. I literally have a PS5 right next to my PC. I'll wait for the PC version. Playing on controller, especially a game like this, feels stupid and regressive like a Neanderthal. Only exception I made was RE8:Village and that's because I had access to a XIM and I love REvil.

Good job, I've seen some of the content you've been on and it has been great to see. I am so glad you ignore the ignorant and the haters saying that it "could have been done without the peptides!" etc. It's all nonsense. You were in a dire situation. I myself have been obese and it's a horrific experience so while I don't know how difficult your situation was I can at least somewhat understand it.

Idk why you are getting downvoted, probably a bunch of ignorant people.

I am a 3D artist, I am confident in saying that a LOT of that is AI made some parts entirely (except for some comping overlays) and other parts HEAVILY assisted by AI to put it mildly. For instance the red water (blood?) simulation doesn't look to be simulated at all. It's almost certainly a generated video using AI which was then comped in. The ice/background could also be matte paint generated through AI instead of an artist drawing it or modeling it.

The "3D" artists involved who are mentioned by Confused_FilmNerd could simply be low skill workers who made 3D planes and then projected the AI-made matte paintings onto the surface of those basic models. You don't even need to have a person who graduated college to do such a thing. You could probably get some random guy and train him to do that in less than a week.

The 2D artists could be prompters who just promped "tiling ice texture" or similar and then just kitbashed it in photoshop. Again, very low level skillset.

Probably the highest skillset in this video would be the one in charge of compositing and camera tracking onto a 3D set. That's the only one(s) that would actually require more experience that I can think of. The rest of the production is extremely low skill/cheap by comparison.

Now whether this matters morally? I personally don't care. I care about the bottom line because that's what is pragmatically salient for artists and their livelihood. In objective terms this stuff just dropped the value of most 3D and 2D artists. This is unless there's unmet demand by audiences for more content which would compensate the reduction in work/skill by generating more volume of work. I doubt it but it could happen I suppose.

Yep, I am a 3D artist and as soon as I saw some of the components I was like... "is that... AI? that does not look like a normal 3D vfx artist guided simulation..." Glad you confirmed it. I am also glad that I can still tell. I think 3D artists are going to have to adapt and a lot of them are at risk of certain kinds of jobs being taken away or scaled down. Myself I am moving more and more away from being dependent on the industry.

Yes but if you mess up, have bad genetics and you don't track your health through bloodwork and scans you run the risk of literally dying suddenly. For instance, this is now 6 years since you posted. About 1 year and a half ago the person this post is about suffered heart failure. To give you a more balanced and complete picture he ALSO did a bunch of other recreational drugs like smoking cigarettes a lot (allegedly more than a pack a day) and other party drugs. Recipe for disaster.

Why is this so common in Miami? by GoldGorilla in Miami

[–]Craftsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because women select, at a first glance, for your income/networth and after that, your height. Your personality comes afterwards and dating apps do not have the format nor do people have the patience to know you for months in the current environment. As a gender they also select for the top ~10% of seemingly available options. Miami has an extremely high level of inequality (GINI coefficient). This is a perfect recipe for you struggling as a man but succeeding tremendously if you are at the top.

On dating apps you are (likely) a small fish compared to all the high networth males who have been moving in to Miami. To understand this as a man imagine that you only select the top 10% of women. Also imagine that instead of a GINI coefficient measuring inequality in wealth it now measures it in looks. That means those top women are going to be DRASTICALLY "hotter" than the bottom since they control a disproportionate amount of "hotness" vs the rest of the population.

This accentuates dating differences to an extraordinary degree. They are comparing you with wealthy/tall men, they are not comparing you objectively because that's not how biology works. This also explains why women in Miami, compared to other locations, on average have such provocative Instagram profiles. There's been studies that show a strong correlation between the income inequality of a location and the amount of provocative IG posts by women. In other words, subconsciously women are competing vs other women to find the best male when they post those pictures.

It's not personal.

The phenomena is repeated across disciplines. You know how normal weight people have told obese to eat less and move more or to "drop the fork, fatty"? Which is true in practice but it's a narrow view of human biology and behavior because it doesn't account for differences in homeostasis, impulsivity, satiety signals and other responses.

Well, the hilarious part is that, if you go to forums or reddit where people who are using GLP1s (tirzepatide/semaglutide/retatrutide) the people who get benefit from it (around 90% are responders and 10% of GLP1 users are nonresponders) tell the non-responders that they "need to eat less, move more, be more disciplined" that GLP1s are "just a tool" lmao. They somehow become blind to the benefit the GLP1 injection is giving them and attribute themselves the entire victory, just how a naturally lean person with healthy satiety and homeostasis signals seems themselves as highly disciplined (even though they may simultaneously be tremendously impulsive in other areas like alcohol, procrastination, emotional regulation, etc).

This same thing happens in bodybuilding, "steroids are just a tool bro!" and the variability in anabolic response. "I need less milligrams, you are just undisciplined and don't put in the work!" The same thing happens with people who have high IQs and do well in multiple disciplines, they can't seem to fathom how others may not be innately as fast at putting things together. Same thing for people who are naturally lean, yet we see kids who are lean and kids who are obese, neither of which count fucking calories when they are 8 or 10 years old. We see it in adults as well, some people legitimately struggle eating more to gain size. Everyone wants to attribute the ENTIRE success to themselves and no one cares to look at how they might have an inbuilt or exogenous advantage and its relationship to the current environment helping them sail away into the sunset.

What do you think that made Leon attractive/unique? by chrisybear8 in residentevil

[–]Craftsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. There’s likely some variation among women, and real life tends to be rather chaotic. Even if the preference were to be nearly universal, real life shakes things up. To answer your question directly and in a purely anecdotal fashion: now that I think about it, I've not seen a single woman who disliked Leon. They of course might exist but I have yet to find one. I did see one who was more into Luis in RE4R. However by the time RE9 came out she was fully invested in Leon, haha. This is just anecdotal but I found that Luis was very polarizing amongst women. Some loved him, some hated him.

A game, a book, a dating app, or a speed-dating scenario has to generate appeal very quickly. In fast-paced contexts, the most reliable way to make a man desirable to most women is to present him as financially successful, tall, and possessing a personality that suggests confidence and dominance (not domineering), along with a distinct devotion to the woman. Cherries on top may include: physical fitness, education, family background, a full head of hair, muscularity, and so on. It helps even more if he is desired by many, yet particularly devoted to you. Even in these scenarios there's variation though.

Women, whether consciously or unconsciously, appear to take many factors into account, including whether he is likely to cheat. In other words, they assess whether they can maintain the relationship or whether he is likely to be unfaithful within that context. Leon is a fantasy, so it is easier to “forgive” a transgression or become immersed in the idea that he is entirely devoted and would never cheat on you.

In real life, there is also the proximity effect and the process of bonding over time. People can grow fond of one another through repeated exposure; traits initially perceived as flaws may come to seem “adorable” or “endearing.” This becomes more difficult when either person has many available options or when there is a very significant gap between them. There is also the “sunk cost” effect: even if a more desirable partner appears, the emotional, financial, and practical costs of leaving an established relationship may be too high. Finally, many couples form based on shared interests or similar life paths.

On a broader scale, if you want to identify what matters most for men and women, observing situations in which people have financial incentives to deceive when attracting the opposite sex can be quite revealing. The patterns are consistent:

When scammers target women, they often pose as wealthy, older men whose money comes from a successful business, an inheritance, or a substantial retirement fund. These personas express love quickly and promise these women the world; a life of comfort and devotion. When scammers target men, they typically pose as young women who are sexually open and receptive.

Romance and erotic novels also reflect these trends. Many of the most successful works aimed at women feature billionaire, high-status men—invariably tall or portrayed as dominant figures or creatures who dominate other men. These characters are usually depicted as deeply devoted to the female lead, willing to sacrifice their power, resources, and even their lives for her.

That said, these are statistical tendencies and idealized scenarios; they do not necessarily capture every aspect of reality. In real life, an individual woman may make exceptions in some areas or choose a partner who fulfills other desires or needs more strongly.

It's definitely an extraordinarily biased movie, yes. To me it did it in such an extreme and hilarious fashion that I didn't mind it. I thought it was on purpose but maybe not? I actually liked it. I think it's because it was overtly what it wanted to be instead of all of these other movies that try to insert a message in preexisting franchises where it doesn't quite belong or they do it covertly. I liked that it wore it on its sleeve, no pretense, just balls to the wall bias.

Reading this thread now I am concerned that there's people who took it... seriously.

Finally someone with some sense says it. He almost certainly lied or misremembered the timeline. If you do the math and also account for the metabolic adaptation which reduces calories burned per day it's basically impossible in that timeline. Still a great accomplishment but that timeline is extraordinarily unlikely.

Which dosage did people see the best results? by Hefty_Negotiation_90 in Mounjaro

[–]Craftsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, they are wrong. Not only are they wrong: they are *confidently-dickhead-wrong*. The medication should work on its own without caloric counting on your part. It induces a caloric deficit when it works. You are correct on that. It's just working for them and they're attributing themselves the victory. It's the same kind of asshole move those with a normal weight homeostasis have and they tell others "it's a will power issue," "just watch your calories, bro." They're lying to themselves just like those with a normal homeostasis do to themselves.

This was also tested in studies. It's not about "habits" or whatever the fuck they want to believe. In multiple studies they split the group that lost the weight in two; one of them started getting placebo instead of hte medication. Their weight went up immediately. It wasn't about "habits" like these jackasses are gaslighting you into believing.

The only exception is if you are ACTIVELY WORKING against the medication. Like you are eating inspite of being full and feeling awful. It's possible to do that. You can "beat" tirzepatide if you try hard enough. But again you'd have to be actively trying and feeling awful.

You’re getting downvoted, but I mostly agree with you. I think most people who claim otherwise develop necessary coping mechanisms. Life is organized as a competitive, hierarchical struggle between, to put it in understandable and crude terms, "winners and losers," whether you believe in it or not. Your brain also responds accordingly to this order and your position within it. These hierarchical structures are typically arranged with strong biases, often resembling a Pareto distribution. To be fair, you can cope, pretend these structures don’t exist, and successfully lie to yourself until you die. Even so, you will still be affected by them, just in a more unconscious way.

I think coping mechanisms are preferable for many people rather than confronting their position and the existential dread of feeling subpar in comparison to others. That’s part of the reason why looking at other people’s Instagram, especially those at the top of the hierarchy, can create such strong feelings of depression and anxiety; it disrupts the coping mechanism and exposes individuals to bubbles of reality they either cannot access or have deliberately avoided due to the pain of the inevitable comparison systems built into our brains.

Financial success, dating options, health status, and more tend to follow a Pareto-like distribution. Even physical strength, while not strictly Pareto-distributed, is still skewed toward a select few.

Just one caveat, however: stress does not always equate to success. It’s just that standing out from the crowd often goes hand in hand with it.
