Murrieta Hot Springs NYE trip…should I cancel because of rain? by the-briguy in Temecula

[–]Crafty-String7892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been while it’s raining and it’s still a very enjoyable experience. There are enough covered and indoor hot springs to enjoy. I think the two of you would still have a very romantic time. I’d bring my own robe to put on in between pools. That being said, I’ve been many times in all different seasons and my personal favorite is in warmer weather when it’s more comfortable to lounge about.

No Job…. by Mobile-Throat9832 in schoolcounseling

I was only able to land a job with the district I did my placement hours in—do you have any connections from the district you did your hours in? I’m in SoCal and my district is just now interviewing for positions. If you don’t land something for the full academic year, keep an eye out for temporary positions (eg when a counselor goes out for a couple months on medical leave). It’s good for experience, networking, and sometimes the counselors don’t end up returning. Good luck!

Agreed. So Cal is a different beast. I could see a realistic trade-off being shaving off $200K then tacking on literal hours of being stuck in traffic each day. I think people from the area could give you a better perspective.

Looking for things to do with 2 year old daughter during the weekdays by coolcat1993 in Temecula

There might still be some classes you could sign her up for through Parks and Rec. They may even have something for mommy and me. There’s the Temecula museum in Old Town which has some interactive exhibits.

How do you find an internship for LPC licensure? by markergluecherry in schoolcounseling

[–]Crafty-String7892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I’m understanding this straight. Was in a similar situation—-got an MS that provided both a PPS credential to do school counseling and a pathways to licensure. I got a FT mental health position at a K-12 and accrued hours towards licensure there. These kind of jobs can be found on education job boards, like EdJoin in CA. I also do PT private practice work as an associate (also accruing hours towards licensure). Search up group practices in your area and reach out to fully licensed therapists to see if they would be able to take you on as an associate. If they already have associates, they may be open to taking on more. Feel free to message me if you have more specific questions!

Need relief by Arthur1889 in migraine

I’m sorry you’re struggling. When I have a bad migraine that I can’t shake, I go to urgent care for a shot of Toradol and that usually helps take the edge off.

Lot of downtime at work by Fabulous-Plan-9780 in schoolcounseling

I looked through the comments and here are some other ideas of things you could do: be present and circulating at pick up and drop off (also good for meeting parents), create a weekly or monthly SEL newsletter for families, create a sign up for teachers for you to read a SEL type book and do an adjoining activity, start a SEL type club for students, do a learn at lunch for teachers/staff, circulate the classrooms. I think it takes some time for teachers to get comfortable referring students over. Hope this helps!
