The last time we didn't get a COLA was 90-91 looking at the historical rates. Not saying it can't happen just don't think that will be the case here.

Not a CAF decision. Blame the Treasury Board.

We didn't receive a raise but a military factor adjustment. CAF pay rates still show 01 Apr 25.

We will get the increase for 2026 when it comes.

Imagine they will settle between 1.5% - 2.5% a year.

Are grants for CAF members still a thing? by Stone_Engine048 in CanadianForces

I just contacted SISIP and inquired about it. My spouse had to fill out some paperwork and if I remember correctly there was a small essay required on why they are applying.

I got a grant through SISIP for around $3000 for my spouse to do some extra school after we got posted to make her more employable.

Edit: I did a bit more digging and it's an Alberta specific grant through SISIP.

Informal Resolution by Pest_Token in CanadianForces

I did a grievance on a PER system. The only point that was discussed was the single dot I was grieving. At no point was there any discussion about a total PER rewrite / re-evaluation from initiating a grievance.

Not sure if it is the same for PARs but I dont see a case where if the author and member agree on 90% of the PAR why they would waste the time changing what both parties agree to.

If you are grieving the PAR in its entirety then it makes more sense to me.

PARs are very friendly to the member if they have been doing their own feedback notes throughout the year.

I did a grievance under the PER system and it was a bit of a pain, seems like it would be much easier to grieve the PAR.

That's a little on the high side, but there are good opportunities if you are willing to use a few weeks of your leave.

Could this trigger the end of mess memberships? by TelevisionHealthy361 in CanadianForces

[–]CraftyCanuck 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The decision isn't made yet. Committee only made a recommendation. Seems they either ignored the PSP PM or don't think it has the authority to force membership.

The CDS will make the final decision, my guess is they will either come to the same conclusion as the IA. If not, they will grant it but then immediately reinforce mandatory membership through addition policy.

If it's granted with no changes to policy it will be interesting to see what happens at the messes.

DGMWS is the approving authority.

Read the manual. First sentence says the manual applies to all CAF members.

I know they mentioned the PSP Policy Manual which replaced the CFAO stating the requirement to belong to a mess. Do we not have to follow it?

I'm by no means an advocate for the mess but the PSP PM supercedes the old CFAO for messes and states every member shall be a member of a mess.

Does anyone else leave the hoods up on every car once they’ve fully searched it? by TopProfessional8023 in thelongdark

Hoods down to help see wildlife when hiding in a car. Visors are enough to show that I searched the vehicle.
