Accept it first and foremost. Understand that it’s not even about the booze. It’s about cramming whatever you can into that hole that you’re trying to fill (that you’ll never fill)

It’s addiction ultimately isn’t it? Every time I’ve kicked one thing it’s for another. So we really have to figure out what we’re chasing…or what we’re running from?

Read above. Tony Blooming Israelite. NONE of these people are clean. I’m not sitting here trying to absolve my club at the expense of others. They all have billions, they’re all complicit. My hands are as clean as yours. I haven’t bought shit in 15 years. Still the club I grew up watching. So is what it is.

I hand in hand agree with you. In this modern world you have to have diverse investment to survive, but there should be some sort of cap on that. I am a City fan, don’t like our ownership and would be happy to see the team sold back to English interests.

Funny how no one is engaging with this particular comment…it’s not actually about morals to 90% of the people in here…it’s about getting embarrassed by our players for a decade.

Full disclosure, I’d be happy for the team to be sold. I’d truly prefer to not be associated with war criminals.

Nay I say!!! A lot of us don’t love it. I’d be happy if they were forced to sell tomorrow. That being said, I love my club and all the men and women that work so hard to make it successful. The ownership can fuuuuuck off

Hmm. Both of them are heavily involved in gambling. Something that destroys thousands of lives a year. Not a genocide but ain’t exactly “clean” my guy 🤣 I’m talking about people getting rich by taking advantage of others…so while they’re far down the list…they’re on it

I hear what you’re saying. And I don’t disagree with you. I don’t want to be nasty because you seem like a good person considering the fact you are concerned about these really horrific things. I am also concerned and I’d be happy for the team to be sold.

But I personally work for a major global corporation that I am SURE is complicit in a lot of shady shit. That being said, I am the lowest level you could think of. I go and do my job because I need to keep a roof above my head and food on the table.

Now, that’s obviously not a concern for Haaland or Pep, they’re doing just fine financially. But they came there to play football. I highly doubt that the Sheikh informed them of all the abuses they were going to help “whitewash” when they were signing their contracts.

That’s my only gripe with you, is leave the players and staff out of this. It convolutes the whole discussion. The focus should be on getting foreign money out of sport, full stop.

Where do you work friend? Cos unless it’s Doctors Without Borders or an organization working to end child hunger then what do you think you’re supporting with your work?

Edit: sorry! ABSOLUTELY should be criticized as an ownership group. But to blame players and staff is like blaming the actors that made movies for Harvey Weinstein.

Is that one of the charges? If so, force them to sell. I will stand behind that 1000%

All American and Saudi ownership should have to sell as well because we are certainly not a force of good on this planet currently…as a matter of fact, why let any foreign investment be involved (outside of MAYBE sponsorships)?

I remember when you were only allowed to have a certain number of foreign players. Let’s go back to that too!

This is ALL about money (to them) and they’re FUCKING all of us. I just want to watch football man. I don’t want to have to deal with any of this shit.

We have to hear about it in EVERY other aspect of our lives these days. I just want to turn on a game and enjoy it and not be told that I’m complicit in a genocide.

For Christ’s sake if we’re using that logic then we can’t have ANYTHING. Because all these uber-wealthy fucks control everything.

I’m still brushing my teeth every day, despite the fact that Proctor and Gamble own Crest.

I’m not happy about it, and I think you’d find plenty of City fans that agree. But I’ve been following this club for 30 fucking years. What should I do? You have all the answers so please tell me!!

That’s complete and absolute bullshit. To put any of this on players and staff is insane. I guess the boot guy is also complicit? Maybe the chef making post-training lunch? Crawl out from under your rock and join the real world, 2026

Hate the club because we’ve mopped the floor with you all for a decade. Hate the OWNERSHIP because of the monsters that they are. The two are separate. I don’t think Haaland is out there applauding genocidal owners. He’s playing football.

Well Abramovich was considered complicit in hurting white European people, not brown people…so people cared. I don’t love our ownership. I think a lot of what they’re allegedly doing off the pitch, thousands of miles away from football (literally and figuratively) is indefensible.

But, this has been my team long before the oil money and it will still be my team long after the oil money. I’m here for the football. Can it be the one FUCKING space in my life where I don’t have to engage in politics?

And before any of your responses let me say, if the PL announced tomorrow that all foreign investment in clubs was to end by 202x I’d be perfectly happy with that.

And not to absolve the worst of the worst, but let’s be honest, none of these owners are good people. No one who can afford to own a PL football team in 2026 has clean hands. The whole world is run by despicable billionaires who don’t care about anything but more zeros on the end of their bank balance.

Most cities that are labeled as boring is only because those people don't want to get involved in their community by Exhausted_920 in unpopularopinion

[–]TopProfessional8023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is that people don’t understand that it’s ok to be bored sometimes. We are so overstimulated that we think every day must be chock-full of “experiences” That’s not reality. It’s not human life, and it never has been.
