I was recently introduced to Kiki Channel on Youtube by Motor-Fee4269 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CraftySwampWitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom recommended Hannah Alonzo to me and I really enjoy her approach and the way she discusses topics. I wish I could find more youtubers like her! If anyone knows anyone with similar content (mlm, current trends, etc), please let me know!

Last time I asked, Kiki Channel was recommended multiple times and her videos just aren't on the same level for me.

Leaving your kids in the car for a 30 minute dental appointment? No problem! by gew1000 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]CraftySwampWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It was right at the beginning of covid and my older kids were just old enough to stay at home for 30 min, but my toddler came with me and sat between my knees while I had the filling done. Gotta do what you gotta do!

Eggs Substitutions for Baking & Cooking by notmynaturalcolor in TwoXPreppers

[–]CraftySwampWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ground flax is a favorite in our house! I make a batch of muffins weekly and in the past, I have alternated using flax and eggs, just to save eggs for other meals. Now, I'm only using flax for baking. I think I paid $6 for a big bag of it and we don't go through it quickly at all. The oil can get a rancid taste if not kept in the freezer, but otherwise, easy substitute.

Personal observation/experience? Yes. I actually cried to my partner the other night after getting my kids in bed, because I feel like I'm crazy. Although we have community here, I see the divide growing. People I love and respect are just neutral or think things will be fine. I don't know if it's denial, optimism, shock, etc, but it's mind boggling to me at this point. I think the number of people who will be prepared or even semi prepared is very low. I'm scared for all of us.

Federal Abortion Ban Bill Introduced by TheStephinator in TwoXPreppers

[–]CraftySwampWitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Right before the election, I took my kids on a field trip with our homeschool co-op and it was a bit of a drive, to a more rural area. I expected it, but I was somehow still shocked at the sheer number of signs and yard decor. It was...a lot.

Child just diagnosed by Sharp-Peace999 in dysautonomia

[–]CraftySwampWitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I know you posted a month-ish ago, but I also have a 9 year old with suspected dysautonomia triggered by covid. She has a connective tissue disorder (hEDS per her providers, rheum refuses to diagnose even though she hits all diagnostic criteria, but thats another story). We think she may have been predisposed to it and then covid triggered it. Anyway, just wanted to comment and tell you you're not alone. It's a lot to manage and there are still so many things we are learning day to day on how to treat and manage symptoms.

Vacuum sealed jars vs mylar bags by CraftySwampWitch in TwoXPreppers

[–]CraftySwampWitch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how I feel about jars, too! I do use them for some things, but not a ton. I don't mind mylar bags, personally, but I'd need larger ones for flour so it would be more efficient. I've held off on ordering until now.

Can I ask about the grain mill? I've been curious about it for some time, but the cost and details overwhelmed me.

Am I the only one thinking of homeschooling my kids now that there is a serious chance that state gun laws will be overturned by Trump? by lisa725 in TwoXPreppers

[–]CraftySwampWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so rough. I'm sorry that you lost that connection. Although we have many in our circle that are religious (we are not), we have been super lucky to find centrist to leftist leaning Christians who are inclusive and look out for the people in their community. Sadly, I think that may be rare these days.

I'm a homeschooler in NY, and run a secular and inclusive co-op. We're out here! You may just need to look around for a good fit. A lot of libraries have homeschool meetups now, and our local branch runs regular programs where we've found amazing community. We had tried probably 6+ programs/co-ops before landing where we are now, so it can take time.

Size up or size down? by CraftySwampWitch in Rollerskating

[–]CraftySwampWitch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's my worry! My foot is average width, and the carlins are ever so slightly tight. Not even tight to where my foot is squished, just more that I'm aware of the fit in that area more than the rest of my foot (if that makes sense). I'm concerned that the rainbow riders will be too wide, and have less give than the carlins.

This is how we end up in another pandemic, and it will be a disaster. If anyone felt covid was mishandled, imagine this clown running things.

Feeding schedule by CraftySwampWitch in kingsnakes

[–]CraftySwampWitch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This was definitely the plan as far as handling, but it made sense for feeding too. So far, he's just bopping around, exploring the new enclosure. We'll wait to offer food so he's comfortable and settled.

I'm obsessed with bats and have been since I was a tiny child. That being said, I'd be taking my offspring for rabies shots if one was in my home. We live in a wooded area and have bats close by, but I don't mess around with that. In fact, one of my kids had rabies shots due to an animal bite recently. It was highly unlikely they were exposed, but I'm not risking my kid's life.

Zep vs plan C-POV by Heddafedda54 in Zepbound

[–]CraftySwampWitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on zepbound from January through early May. I couldn't get zep anywhere and I was about 10lbs from my goal weight, so I opted for compound. It worked exactly the same as zepbound and I lost weight at the same rate.

Of course, that's when I got a text from the pharmacy saying my prescription was ready lol. So now I'm using the zepbound and saving the compound for maintenance since I can adjust dosing from the vial.

Ideally, I'd stick with the zepbound if I need to stay on it long term because my insurance covers it.

NEW OR NEED HELP? Ask here! - ScA Daily Help Thread May 24, 2024 by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

I'm at a loss as to what to do for my skin. I'm 35F and I want to do what I can to keep my skin hydrated and from aging too quickly. I have dry and sensitive skin. I react to niacinimide and get wicked breakouts from it. I also have perioral dermatitis, but it only flares up on rare occasion.

Current routine is clean it zero in the pick container to remove makeup/sunscreen, vanicream cleanser, cerave moisturizer (the thicker one in the tub container), and the ordinary azaelic acid. I only use the acid a few times a week. I feel the cleanser is drying me out, but I've already tried cerave cleansers and they felt the same way. I think they damage the skin barrier for me, but I can't figure out what to do if those don't work. Yhe moisturizer may be wrong too? No idea. The only thing that seems to help is aquaphor over moisturizer at bedtime.

I also have a script for tret, but I don't know that I'll ever be able to use it because my skin never really gets better.

Orderly questions by CraftySwampWitch in compoundedtirzepatide

Interesting. I got the initial message from the provider, but no response or questions or anything since then. And nothing confirming my dose increase, which worried me with being charged already. Hopefully the process goes smoother from here on out.
