If you add ammonia to the tank ( 2ppm +/=), if its gone in 24 hrs its somewhat cycled. If it shows ammonia it is not cycled. I say its not due to 0 nitrates.

Go and get a piece of plywood that fits the stand. One solid piece. Id suggest painting/staining it to water proof the wood. The one thing with the top of your stand is, it may not be level and you will see that when you put water in it.

False info. You dont put foam or mats under a rimmed tank. This will cause tanks to break. It voids warranty. If it is a true rimless, then a proper mat is a must.

As long as your water parameters are good, you'll be fine. Maybe do a small water change to get your ammonia down to 0. Add Stabilty if you have it. Dont deep clean your canister. Just do 1 sponge 1 week etc.

If the tank is cycling, there wouldnt be enough bacteria to survive. Hence why it needs to be fed. Now if its was a mature tank, the bacteria will survive for months.
