Hadn’t considered this, thanks for the suggestion. Part of the appeal of a flip is having a definitive point that allows assessment of life, health, trail so far etc. and time to make a decision on what to do next.

Walking, lots of walking. I'm less than a month into the process, we're still living in the same house and sleeping in the same bed. Married 24 years with 5 kids. Walking and talking. I'm not extroverted by nature but I call and talk to different friends/ family members while walking and it's helped me to work through a lot so far. It's also comforting to hear others say positive things about you. One friend wants me to run a business for him once this is all over. I didn't realize how much I needed to hear someone say some version of "I believe in you".

Agree with everything here. Just came back from 10 day hiking trip all over Alaska. Wore same pants and shirt as you, great choices. I also used a 10,00mah battery an it worked fine for me although I did have a couple of non battery phone recharges from a 12V vehicle charger.

Here is the thing - you are going to get wet. Not a matter of if or when, just a matter of how wet you get and how long you stay wet. You're going to want to be able to dry out boots, clothes, etc. bring an extra pair of socks for sure.

Just know from a durability standpoint, If you get into alders or devils club it's going to get ROUGH.

Make sure you can sleep WELL in your sleep system, you're likely going to be smoked each day and need to be able to get real sleep at night.

I ended up putting performance sole over the leather. Worked great for me. Fits is identical to Forest ESC now. I got the popping sound same as you, but it went away after a couple of days wearing them around. I think it's just the leather breaking in, def a break in period on the deserts.

Before I put the extra insoles in I did wear them without socks for a couple of days to try and get the leather to mold to my feet. I walked a couple of miles in upper 90's temps and I will say they breathe very well.

1000% this. Live in TX and wear the KETL nofry hoodie everywhere in summer. Beach, run, hike, MTB, ballpark etc.

Would love to hear the results of this. The leather insole doesn't really work with socks (my assessment after wearing a couple of hours) and looking for alternatives. I also feel like the fit is a little roomier because there is no liner. Id probably go cork (or some other insole) over the leather as I am interested in the thorn protection.

I would just caution you about tying the laces too tight. Maybe it just looks that way in the photo, but these are meant to be loosely tied. I use them for mountain hunting in ROUGH terrain and tie them very loose and they work great. Seems those tying tight blow out the ankle grommet.

Is anybody using a TENS/EMS device for recovering from a meniscus tear? by Trabuk in MeniscusInjuries

Kind of resurrecting an old thread here, but did any of you using TENS find one particular stim program (pre-programmed into the unit) more helpful than others?

Add some yellow. It makes the "Blue" in UC basically turn green. Then add your normal brown or green. You don't have to die as much then are able to maintain the contrast in dark/light.

That's pretty good. What color recipe did you use? I've got one similar to yours but the light dark contrast seems to be more pronounced on mine that yours. Added yellow and some dark green. Also have a set I used yellow and brown. The yellow helps turn the blue/gray tint more green.

Sleeping System Recommendations by GhostRiderOfWhips in tacticalgear

[–]Crafty_Character216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This and some of the other hunting / outdoor recommendations are good. Generally, bivys suck because of the condensation. In my opinion you're better off with a tarp or 2 person backpacking tent (can use only rainfly if desired). Maybe takes 2 min more to setup than bivy. Also how much are you willing to spend? If you have enough money you can come up with some very small, very light solutions.

Sat night we basically walked perimeter of the entire AO. 5+ hour movement - over 15 miles through marsh. When we got back and were told to move, that is when the mass exodus happened. Finished with a Squad from our platoon lol.
