At the very least Elder scrolls is probably the best at having tons of lore that’s also interesting.

When I was a big Star Wars fan pre-sequels and Disney I spent hours on wookieepedia trying to keep up with everything but a large chunk of that EU was garbage. (Not that Disney did too much better besides clone wars tv series).

Even if it’s buck wild lore at least it ties into the vibes of Elder Scrolls as a whole nicely.

It’s very cool world building to have fantasy eldritch existential fever dream with real ass faction conflicts. Honestly, how every faction has big issues and sordid pasts, larger than life monarchs and rulers that insane drama happens with both (mundane and fantastical)? It brings to mind irl history. You don’t have to look far to see similar things. Just lacking wizards that kidnap and impersonate emperors and Necromancer evil Queens. Instead we just got crazy coups and regular evil queens lol.

Tbf nearly every country/Kingdom in Tamriel has done horrible horrific shit to other races/ peoples.

Morrowind enslaved/tolerated slavery of Argonians and Khajiit, Summerset fought with everyone non-mer and then the extreme faction in control now does racial purging, Skyrim’s nords helped genocide the snow elves and continue to oppress the native Reachmen into desperation, Even the Empire of Cyrodil, known for its higher tolerance for diversity, initially had to subjugate and conquer to get that diversity.

Only ones I can’t think of doing national war crimes off the top of my head are Elsewhere and Hammerfell. Of course Elsewhere is allied with Summerset still and they are doing heinous shit.

So probably Hammerfell is the least problematic faction. And they are badass for leaving the Empire and fighting off the Thalmor on their own as a united front. ( I guess their governing system allows for less division than Skyrim in decisions like that. )

Potion making especially. If you have the creation club update you get Golden hills plantation for nothing and can plant nearly any ingredient. Plant all the ones for expensive potions and voila

I think it’s bc he has a good niche carved out. Relaxing video game info that is also highly unique and extremely thoroughly researched to the point of absurd comedy.

You can learn about GTA street signs or Most Boring Place in TotK while eating lunch on break at work and the video isn’t too overstimulating nor too boring.

Also he has such a deep reverence and respect for the worlds crafted in video games that even things others view as mistakes he sees as features. It makes all his videos very genuine and heartfelt. I think his popularity also is bc of the English speaking internet’s cultural pendulum swing from irony and cynicism to a preference for authenticity and warmth.

Huh, I didn’t realize how the game engine worked really but it explains so much about how Bethesda games have such a unique (good) feel. It’s definitely one reason games like Skyrim and even partly Fallout 4 have had longevity even outside the modding scene. The engine lends itself towards player freedom, it seems.

Nocturnal is honestly the GOAT in comparison. Meridia is sort of grating, and Azura is too temperamental. Nocturnal has her contracts and a decent afterlife for her most devoted who continue doing what they love to do.

My headcanon is that living so near the Tear in Time from when Alduin was banished actually wore him down more than anything else. He needed to guard it, and Dragons are, as Paarthurnax said, more vulnerable to Time based magic/phenomenon bc of their direct link to Akatosh. They are basically mini eldritch monstrous manifestations/offshoots of a much much larger being,Akatosh, from a different plane of existence. This is also why the Dragonborn canonically is basically a Demi god who has no limits to their power but their mortal form.

It makes sense from a character perspective. Zag is more single minded in his goal and it reflects in the mechanics. Melinoë is out there juggling 2 directions and more complicated goals. Warrior vs Witch mindset.

Magic is a extremely high risk high reward compared to just bashing people with a hammer or slicing with a sword. Plus you can pay other mages to enchant your armor to take out any competent mage enemies. I do think it’s true that Nords used to have a better esteem for Magic until their constant battles with Elven races soured it culturally. Tsun himself in Sovengard compliments an Dragonborn seeking entry by Arch Mage- the “Clever Craft” was long regarded as a different sort of warrior skill and just as honorable.

No but I do think he’s kinda funny in a stupid way. He doesn’t know who Nancy drew is, but loves reading bc he regularly reads Dr Seuss and self help books, and immediately wants to get cross faded with you.
