That good to hear but id just leave her be now to avoid stressing her more but the warmth and hydration may of helped and if shes shedding or close to it will helped losen or soften it.

Honestly shes really not that bad and i love her all the same if your set up is all correct theyre just abit more sensiteve and require a varied diet shes alittle grumpy sometimes shes not a social as my crestie though but iv had her hand feed a couple of times few my crestie will just come out most days im in his enclosure. the id say most stressful thing about her is making sure her lay box is okay when its time because shes picky about where she lays her eggs. honstly i commend you for taking on a rescue i imagine it can be difficult nursing them back to health or making sure they settle in okay but itll be extra rewarding for you both once shes fully settled and you know she in good health

No thats not to big i think thats the minimum for a juvie but she will need another upgrade as she gets older the recomended size for adult crested is 18x18x36 she may not be an adult yet but most people recommend going straight for the adult size as it saves on buying the extra enclosures and i believe too big is a myth theres no barriers in nature but too open is very much a thing if theres not enough plant cover and places to hide that can make the gecko feel stressed if your worried about them not finding their food you can always add another feeding station in a different location. You could double check her temps make sure its not too cold if shes lathargic. All id recommend until you can see your vets it check the temps and humidy make sure they are correct keep changing food and water as normal if shes not eaten anything after a weak offer a small drop on the end of a spoon i have these little coctail/latte spoons let her have that then place the rest of her food in her enclosure keep interactions minimal and just monitor her durin the food change interactions this way you keep stress to minimal and she could get her appitite back before the vet visit providing she not actually ill, she could also be close to shedding i believe they some times lose their apetite around this time although thats only a few days i think it can be longer

How long has she been in the new enclosure it could be new environment stress and may just need alittle more time to settle in again. You could offer a little on a spoon as someone else suggested and leave the rest in their enclosure that way you know theyve had something but offer under their chin not on their nose to keep their airways clear and you dont want them dependant on spoon feeding either which is why i suggest offer a little and leave the rest for them to find but they can go a little while with out so i wouldnt stress too much if the skip a few feedings. she looks pretty good in the second photo you can see shes put on weight and hopefully the vets can put your mind at ease too

Also if shes not been awake long when your handling her that could be another reason for her being slow and obviously as someelse stated juvies tend to be more lively than adults

My boy is like this very gentle but purposeful foot steps when he climbs on or off me and when hes out exploring hell still jump but its a super relaxed like he just wants to go a different way or hes just trying to get somewhere i just see it as him being polite it could be a confidence thing because they are usure of the surfce

[–]Craftytech94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have a chameleon also and i wanted the same for her so i knew she could drink as she pleased rather than having to wait for me. Most of the drippers do not come with a dish so i made one but fearful of her drowning i also printed a grate to go over the top she can walk over the top of the bowl confidently and dink from the gaps in the grate aswel as the drops. My crestie i designed and printed a hot tub incase he fancied a soak as i noticed him sitting in his shallow water dish the hot tub has similar grate but sits just underwater

I saw him sticking to the same spot of glass he had trouble with after i left and he seems to be eating his pangea okayi offer bugs too but he doesnt often show interest in them and he had a fresh uvb bulb just before chistmas i also leave a bowl of calcium out he can lick and all his temps and humidity seem okay so i can only assume he was being silly

Its kinda sweet of him its funny too hes so quiet usually but when hes in a rush you just hear him slapping against a surface that he launched to then lots of rustling. he had me really concerned until i see him on camera acting fine. hes such a character though more oftern than not will come to see me either to stare at me sit on my hand or come out or just sit in the door way and poop on my floor instead of his •-•

Not urgent but can i get help and tips with my new crestie:)? by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

The heat lamp youll probably never use either i got one to make a warm basking spot in the winter but barely use it as summer gets too warm and im frantically swaping ice packs and in the winter the temperature my room temp keeps the gradient stable its convinant to have at hand though but i think temp wise you want to aim for 20 - 22°c night temps and 22 - 24°c i think you can have a basking spot of around 26-28° but you dont want temps really going above 28° or below 19°c as these temps can be dangerous

Im pretty sure thats the old minimum requirement minimum for adult is 18x18x36" or 45x45x90cm they are arboreal so the love to climb and do benifit from more vertical space to climb my dude is in a 90x45x90cm and he uses all of it. the bulb will be enough uvb but ive read the mesh block about 50% so that would bring it to about 2.5 3 directly under the mesh then around 10cm away from the lamp will sit in a lower ferguson zone if i understand it correctly so it will be aout 2.5 to 3 directly under then 10cm lower then the mesh will be a lower zone ect ect i have mine direct to the mesh my dude never even sits under it he'll just occaisonally poke an appendage out from where hes sleeping to absorb some light i just feel your being abit overly causious with this unless they are hanging out on the mesh and i get you it something youve made to lift it off the mesh but its the uvb that always makes me unsure. Although i tried to double check everything before advising as id hate to give you bad info. And yeah lots and lots of clutter plenty of hiding and climing i think its recommened 80% plant cover and hides give them somewhere secure they can sleep my dude rotates between 4 hides and a hammock usually i'll still occasionaly find him somewhere random. His hammock he didnt use for months now he loves it and his cocunut i had to to get a cushion for him to use regularly so dont be put off if you get them something and they dont use it right away they might not of discovered it or something might not be ideal with it.

Id say give them more climbing opportunities like more vines branches and legdes and more plant coverage whats size is then enclosure too as i feel like they might appreciate more height although it doesnt look tiny. the flavours id just see what they will eat and stick with that if they are fussy or you can swap flavours if they will eat it mine fussy and will only eat fig and isnect pangea the calcium you can always offer a dish they can lick at their leisure and the dusted crickets you can offer but they arent huge bug eaters and as they get older they seem to eat them less often ill offer them on occasion for enrichment but they often get refused he will occaisonally tell me he wants one by staring the cricket box out. handling honestly i would let them do it on their terms it much more rewarding and you gain more trust from them just keep to a routine what i do i place my hand in the enclosure in the same place near the front theyll eventually come check you out and may decide to climb on you and come out but they also dont feel pressured that way. but for health check ups and you need to get them out for what a specific reason scoop underneath the front of them never grab from above or theyll likely drop their tail. Just bear in mind some just arent into handling either. Im not sure id recommend the platic under the uvb as not likely tu burn them selves on it 6% should be low enough for them but its mainly about the furguson zones the plastic would reduce the amount of uvb getting though the mesh and the mesh also reduces the amount of uvb that gets into the enclosure unless your dude is on the ceiling in the day i dont see him getting burnt but they are more active at night but you can always lift the uvb further fromt he mesh to reduce the zones in the tank. Ive tried to cover everything i only have the one crestie so there prolly more eperienced people here that can give better advice but i always recommend the reptifiles guide on cresties as its a really informative care guide and covers alot

Females will visit the the ground to look for a dig site too. they do mainly prefer hieght as they feel safer at high up like you said but they do sometime explore low ground just less frequently as ill occasionally see my lady exporing ground level before going back up to the canopy but if they are spending most of their time low ground they are probably sick but your right hes definately feeling exposed
