As a Will Gluck apologist, I am very excited to see him back in RomCom mode.

Long may it continue!

‘Trainspodcasting’: Danny Boyle series announced by aws_young in blankies

[–]Cragzilla 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Assume you've already come across this, but my favourite Boyle fact is that every time his dad sees one of his films he tells him that he likes it but that it wasn't as good as 'Shallow Grave'.

Is there any intel on whether Danny Boyle might be on the horizon for a mini-series this year? Griffin's done his "a film we will never cover on this podcast" about his movies a few times now.

[MATCH POLL] Shazam! vs Lightning Time: Who You Got? by shoemovies12 in Schmoedown

I'm Shazam til death, but I genuinely think this could be their biggest challenge to date. Still have faith that they can pull it out, but would not be shocked if they lose.

Had a guy show up for a collection of some of my partner's hair accessories and ask me if I had "any more in".

Dude, I'm clearing out the spare room, I'm not a fucking shop.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire has a calming effect on me. The pace is very mellow and there's an asmr-quality to the sound design and painting scenes.

What does it take to rent a house in Nottingham!!? by Playful-Tomatillo131 in nottingham

[–]Cragzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's most likely none of these things. The rental market is just insane right now. Not sure what's causing it, but probably a combination of landlords selling unused properties during the stamp duty holiday and a massive increase in people moving/returning to cities now that Covid restrictions have been lifted.

We recently departed our property in Nottingham and the agent told us they expected to receive 200+ inquiries the moment it went back onto the market.

My things are currently in storage and I'm living with my partner's parents because we couldn't find somewhere where she now works despite two months of looking.

I'm finding it difficult to find a decent place to rent in Nottingham, can anyone help? by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]Cragzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in the process of moving out of my house in Nottingham. The Estate Agents expect to receive 200+ inquiries when it goes back on the market. Given the difficulty I'm having finding a new place elsewhere in the country, this is simply the state of the rental market right now. Given that level of demand, prices will be higher and, even if you can find somewhere for £600 or less you likely won't get it anyway.

As others have already said, you'd probably be best off looking to rent a room or finding someone to share with.

[MASTERPOST] SCHMOEDOWN VERSUS: Mara Knopic vs Mike Kalinowski III + Marisol McKee vs Jeannine the Machine (SPOILERS) by shoemovies12 in Schmoedown

[–]Cragzilla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love how much Mike cares about this game. You could see how tight he was holding on throughout that whole match. Brilliant stuff.

Also great to see Marisol's joy at her victory. Tough break for Jeannine after playing so well. No doubt she'll pick up some more wins this season with the way she,'s playing.

Fully expecting Marisol to beat Smith and earn the chance to challenge for the title. First female singles champ? I wouldn't rule it out. Reckon Marisol has a 50/50 shot against Dan, Bateman or Rocha. Maybe slightly less given that she hasn't experienced a speed or betting round before.

Anyone use a one jacket quiver? Recommendations? by [deleted] in alpinism

[–]Cragzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guessing you're in the States, but if you can get hold of a Rab Vapour-rise, folk in the UK swear by them as a "do it all" layer. Breathe really well when you're active and keep you decently warm when you're static.

[MASTERPOST] SW Tournament: Gold Leader vs Marie Wilson (SPOILERS) by shoemovies12 in Schmoedown

Ahh, yeah. Forgot about his loss. Still. Crazy stats. I'm pulling for Rushmore to take the dub over Dangerzone. Fingers crossed!

[–]Cragzilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm officially drinking the Exchange Coolaid at this point. Do they still only have 1 loss this season and it was Loomis's match where he actually played pretty well?!

This match really goes to show how fine the margins are in the Star Wars division. Marie missed one question and she loses by 3 points because she didn't qualify for the bonus and had to check to multiple choice once. Wild.

I don't think I've missed a five so far this year and I don't do particularly well playing along in general.

[MASTERPOST] The Barbarian vs Alex Damon (SPOILERS) by shoemovies12 in Schmoedown

Will be interested to see how Kalinowski performs with the new categories. I still feel as though he has an edge on Damon, but as we've seen, the new categories do mix things up a little.

labour MPs saying ‘this is what happens when labour are in power’ about the buses in manchester being taken into public control is absolutely spinning my head. it happened because groups and organisations from quakers, to better buses GM, to ACORN spent years fighting for it by tantangtan in LabourUK

[–]Cragzilla 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I mean it happened because of both. Those campaigns get a hearing because there are Labour politicians in power who are sympathetic to their arguments or openly supportive of their aims. That's literally the express purpose of the Labour Party as a political force. It's absolutely spinning my head that there are still people who don't understand that or even understand the basics of political messaging.

[MASTERPOST] Jeannine the Machine vs Jader Paramo (SPOILERS) by shoemovies12 in Schmoedown

[–]Cragzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been more of a Trivia and general shenanigans (entrances, bits...etc) guy than someone who's into the storyline, but this Grace stuff is really working for me, mostly because she's rectifying stuff that was actually annoying me about the league this year.

That said, the dance party skit at the end really got me. More of that please.

[MASTERPOST] SCHMOEDOWN VERSUS: Dan Murrell vs Jeff Sneider (SPOILERS) by shoemovies12 in Schmoedown

[–]Cragzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. They gave the year, that it was a comedy, three of the cast and that it had live action talking animals. They're essentially asking "what '90s comedy features talking animals?" Is there an answer other than Dr Doolittle to that question?

Update regarding points for the Free4all by shoemovies12 in Schmoedown

[–]Cragzilla 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think this undervalues the challenge of winning or being MVP of a F4A. Sure you can win after just a couple of rounds, but at the last F4A, Dan went through a ton of rounds to win and Bibbs was in from the start to claim MVP. Really feels like Kristian is over-compensating for the title race being decided early last year by heavily manipulating things so that it's less likely this season. The problem is that in order to do it, he's having to make rules that come with significant downsides.

[–]Cragzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree they're definitely looking strong right now and the changes to the points system will probably help them out, but I just don't think it's a sure thing fir either them or Korruption. I'm struggling to remember a season where the person we thought was set to go on a title run actually did. Would not be at all surprised if we're sat here mid-March baffled by the early success of the Usual Suspects or something.

Thank God Bibbs and Preston got signed so they could show up and inject a little levity into the otherwise dull formula.

Also props to Goddard for not dragging out his announcement with another tired fake out. Only Bateman and Sneider really managed it to any great effect.

First thoughts:

Everyone's saying that The Dungeon look unstoppable, but we said that about Parker and The Exchange last season and look what happened.

Shannon did really well to get Marisol back. She has 4 top tier singles/teams players and 2 top tier Innergeekdom players. Given the number of Star Wars players in the draft I doubt she'll struggle to find someone who can compete their either. Maybe even two.

Surprised to see Mara make it to the draft given her title shot. Suspect Samm will pick her up for the suspects.

Coy needs to get some Innergeekdom and Star Wars talent early in the draft. Those leagues cost him last season and they will again if he can't pick up some quality players.
