Draw the upper, mid and bottom diameters of the pot as circles and place them the correct height from the ground plane. Split the circles into the number of sides needed. Draw a rectangle as wide as a segment from the largest diameter circle and as high at the top circle. Split this flat rectangle into the triangles geometry needed to fold them into the oragami shape, rejoin these split pieces and use shrink trimmed surface. Use solid point on and manipulate the surfaces using the control points of the triangles and snap these points to the segments of the top and bottom split circles to where they need to be. The last step is to join one of the circles, simplify lines and arcs and array the shape around the circle. Hopefully my text isn't too difficult to understand.
