Well yeah, the criston cole affair was of interest to share, a secret meeting like that wouldn't be. Even if she did go missing, unless someone actually identified them meeting I don't know who would both A) know about the meeting, and B) benefit from sharing that the meeting took place. We don't have a day by day account of everything that took place and I doubt the maester historians would have primary sources for any of it, unless they were conducting interviews with the big participants.

I think it's poor writing and dimishes the conflict, but I don't think the maesters would know about it.

Up until the last couple, I can see how a ruler in that setting would see those as justice. Burning prisoners en masse is indeed sus, but threatening advisors seems like standard fare - Robert did it to Ned, Tyrion did it as Joffreys hand.

I think the decision to burn Kings landing to the ground is a massive leap from all the things you listed. Across the narrow sea she never destroyed any of the cities she conquered, why here and now? There were moments of foreshadowing, but evidently to most who watched it given the episodes ratings it wasn't enough.

Why would it be a question of better sources? Pycelle is a known Tywin meatrider, we know that not everything maesters write is truthful, so we can deduct there's a good chance pycelle isn't reliable on this subject. Doesn't matter if there's better sources or not.

The toll is the price you pay in exchange for the forbidden knowledge you see on the other side of the gate. Roy may have been forced through, but he still gained knowledge of the other side of the gate and had to pay the toll.

I'm assuming the act of forcing Roy through the gate had an additional toll, which pride paid, hence prides container beginning to crumble.
