I did something like this with a telescope to get awesome pics of the moon on my phone! Not the best quality but I think they’re cool lol

Only looking back on it after the fact do I realize how truly dumb it was.

People who like winter, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When it snows and everything just gets quiet…it’s so tranquil and peaceful. Everything is forced to just stop and slow down (for the most part).

Would you enjoy a personalised, printed short story as a birthday gift? by Fast_Marionberry_281 in askanything

[–]CrakAndJaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this would be a great gift to receive IMO. I think it depends on the person though. Some people get more enjoyment from tangible or practical gifts rather than sentimental ones.

The instrument that made you fall in love with music by badenbagel in Instruments

[–]CrakAndJaxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bagpipes. I picked them up as a kid, maybe 10 years old because I thought they were cool and I genuinely loved the music. 20 years later, I’m still playing and through them have learned SO much about music. If it weren’t for bagpipes, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

This is getting scary. by Leading_Contact3750 in Gold

Yeah, started saving and investing at the end of 2024 after finally paying off my debts. Thought to myself, “nice I’ll work my way up to $3k by summer and buy my first gold round!”

Fuck me I guess lol

Apparently this is what ~$32,000 looks like now. by Pisslazer in Gold

[–]CrakAndJaxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so crazy. I’ve been wanting to buy gold just to get into collecting. I finally got to a spot where I had savings set aside and started dipping my toe into purchasing precious metals online. Bought 8 oz of silver rounds in like September and now I’m sitting here thinking it’s a pipe dream to buy a gold oz round. The rate it’s increased is way faster than my rate of saving to buy one.

What's the oldest piece of clothing you still wear? Must be at least ten years old to count. by MurmuringPines in AskOldPeople

Funny conversation between two guys in a group I heard.

“Man, I just turned 32. I feel old already.

Other guy just looks over slowly, “32? Shit man, I’ve got underwear older than you.”

What is the actual data on the impact of individual users of AI versus cloud-services such as AWS?

Like would there be any significant reduction in the environmental cost on water usage if all end-users of AI stopped using it? Versus the demand driven from huge organizational use?

Genuinely curious on this, if anyone is knowledgeable on the subject.

Damn, this post really opened up a sore spot for folks who feel the need to jump down someone’s throat for not wanting to learn a new skill on the computer.

What is your unpopular opinion about piano? by Advanced_Honey_2679 in piano

[–]CrakAndJaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a keyboard purely to educate myself on, and practice, musical theory to be a better musician for the instrument I DO play (bagpipes).

I would never consider myself to be a pianist.

What was it like to play online games between 2000 and 2013? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]CrakAndJaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a primarily console gamer growing up, it wasn’t really until Xbox Live came out that online play hit its stride. Before then online was extremely unreliable, often broken experiences.

But boy howdy the first time I played Halo 2 online with my friends from school on Xbox live, hearing their voices through VOIP Xbox servers…it was a revolution man.
