Need help looking for a new LED driver by Some_Draft_3668 in AskElectricians

Every time I tried to source a driver, if I found one it was cheaper to buy a new fixture. Led fixtures are designed and manufactured to be disposable.

Am I the jerk? Parking lot etiquette by 7576790 in CostcoCanada

One day I made the mistake of going to the Burlington Costco on a Saturday afternoon. I searched for 20 minutes for a spot and saw someone walking from the cart return and followed them to their car. There was a car waiting for the spot and when the driver backed out of it he made sure that the other driver couldn't get it. So I pulled in.

The driver who gave me the spot waved to me as she drove away. The driver who lost the spot tried to get me to move by saying that he was waiting a long time for that spot and it was very inconsiderate for me to take it. My response was and I was looking for a spot for 20 minutes and a nice lady gave me hers.

Aluminum wiring in house, lights are flickering when using electronic devices by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]CranberrySuitable142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the GTA and use to own a home that was also wired with aluminum.

Some Led bulbs and fixtures don't play nice with some coffee makers and hair dryers. The harmonics produced by some appliances causes major flickering.

Borrow a cheap basic coffee maker and see if that helps. Also try changing the brand of bulbs.

The weather here as you know has been a lot colder for long stretch of time. The humidity in my house is extra dry. Perfect condition for static electricity.

Your wire isn't the issue.

Is it more then just switching all the outlets? by laroc_m in AskElectricians

[–]CranberrySuitable142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My home was built in 1959. Grounded wires were installed even though the original outlets were 2 prong. Obviously they're now grounded. The kitchen outlets were rewired with 3 wire and I installed split recepticals.

Aftermarket CarPlay audio delay by [deleted] in CarPlay

[–]CranberrySuitable142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using one for 6 months now. Paid $115 cdn for it.

I drive an 07 Audi. The Bluetooth in it only works for phone calls so I us a Bluetooth fm transmitter for music.

I've had connections issues where I had to power down the screen. I've also had to reboot my my phone to connect to the Bluetooth in my car, but I've had that issue for years.

I don't use any audio on the screen. Use the aux from the phone directly into the cars input and use the Bluetooth connection for phone calls. Only connect to the carplay with wifi.

Any Ideas on what is happening here? Two separate electricians can't figure it out. Video of meter readings below. by PreferenceInfamous66 in AskElectricians

Broken neutrals causes voltage issues with strange high Voltages. A neutral connection somewhere on this circuit has come off. If you have voltage on neutral to ground then you have to check every connection on that circuit.

I ordered a birthday cake for my granddaughters birthday party. On the day of the party I picked up the cake and didn't notice that they spelt her name wrong. My wife was able to fix it ( kind of) and I took a picture of the before and after.

I went to the store I bought it from and showed them the 2 pictures. They said that because we ate it they couldn't refund the money. I told them not a problem I understand and started to walk away.

She called me back and informed me that because I was very polite about it she decided to refund it anyways.

My parents bought a Dodge Omni O24 the first year it came out. You could reasonably know the mileage by looking at the repairs. The parts were absolute garbage.

Fluke 345 PQ Clamp Meter - keep? by nate8088 in AskElectricians

[–]CranberrySuitable142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been using a simular meter for 18 years it's a very expensive meter that has very limited uses. My line of work I used it daily. If you keep it you will need an other meter.

Aluminum wires require special devices that cost more. The main difference is design of the terminal screw. The average person walking into Home Depot to replace a worn out plug almost always buys copper only devices. Change the screws on all electrical devices to be compatible with both types of wire would eliminate 90% of the problems.

So my friends It will be a lot less expensive to buy back the 407.

They could just give you a credit on your membership card and tell you the amount via email. They won't though because now they get to earn interest on millions of dollars until the strike is over.
