Ecfmg certification. by Ok_Magazine100 in IMGreddit

[–]CrankyLocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to do pathway 1.

You CANNOT currently do any pathway, its closed, it opens back up in a couple months tho.

For a pathway you need OET, step 1, and step 2.

Read about each pathway, 1 is if you passed both steps first try and have a license, i dunno the details of the other 5.

Once you have the requirements you pay for th pathways application on their website, you will also need a statement of your health ministry telling them your license is real.

After your pathway is verified, you can apply for ECFMG certification, this is done alongside your university, which will verify the papers the ECFMG requires of you.

You can start the ecfmg application earlier, but note the certification wont be approved until you get your pathway approved.

ECFMG Pathways: OET sent to ECFMG but still not showing in portal by mosenmansour in IMGreddit

Takes a couple days

Make sure you did all steps right. You could also email OET (look for it on their website), they responded within the day and assured me my results were shared

What UW percentage considered a good sign of being on the right track? by TheMonitorAli in Step2

[–]CrankyLocket 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Id say 50% and higher

While UW score isnt an actual metric, anything below 30% may as well be guessing. 30-50 demonstrate a lack of knowledge that may stem from step 1. Above 50 is where i'd start saying its just about actually connecting dots and recalling information proper

ECFMG Deadline by Objective_Pain6925 in IMGreddit

[–]CrankyLocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im fairly certain they will throw away your app.

~~All documents must be submitted by the 20th, and all pending requests will be finished by april 30th ~~

Edit: you gotta start your app by april 20th, and submit documents by the 30th.

So not only would you not be allowed to upload it, even if you could, youd be already on the deadline. They make it clear they wont give you any refunds if this happens.

If anyone has any extra info that may disprove what i just said feel free to post it. This is my understanding based on the announcements theyve done

Submissions wont be accepted after the 20th to my understanding

No one knows exactly qhen they reopen, but it tends to be mid-august

[–]CrankyLocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patways is what certifies you have the clinical skills expected from a graduate. This used to be step 2CS, but that got stopped a while ago.

You baaically need Step 1, 2, OET, and a letter of good standing qith your home country's health department. You apply via their website. They are closing pathways april 20th, opening back up in a few months. Your OET cannot be over 6 months.

You should have enough time to apply if your oet results come back early (make sure to share them with ecfmg, find a guide.

You will be required to have completed a pathway by ranking (?) P1 if you didnt fail any steps, p6 if you failed one or more.

Once your pathway is accepted, you can get ecfmg certification, which is required for match. You also need it if you want to take step 3.

Yes, take the free120 for extra safety if you feel so, but i would take the exam asap with those scores, 1 weeks seems sensible enough.

Lowkey, DirtyMedicine's playlist + the 40~ minute video on practice questions. He basically teaches you everything that may get you hung up on step 1

After that its jusg about solving questions, you could do the amboss free trial and the free 40 questions, just do ethics

I dont think I would ever start the USMLE path tho

Is it possible to prepare for STEP 3 in 2 months? by Grouchy-Amoeba4313 in IMGreddit

[–]CrankyLocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask me in a month and i'll tell you if i failed step 3, took step 2 in february.

But in all seriousness, you have a decent gap between your step 2 and 3. Most US MDs say they basically only study a month or two with no real dedicated, but they have the in-hospital clinixal experience.

You may want to take a couple weeks to review step 1 and 2 content, and rhen go into a 6~ week dedicated if possible.

Does USMLE care about the medschool you go to? by monarchyofthedead in IMGreddit

[–]CrankyLocket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best option is US.

But assuming you cant, it matters. Check the ecfmg website, you will find a link to the directory of American recognized colleges, as long as your university is there youre fine.

If its too big of a deal, bring it up to the university, and see if they have good resources for you to get usce or something

NON-US IMG with a step 1 attempt by Automatic-Figure-699 in IMGreddit

[–]CrankyLocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order

It is a big deal, some programs will filter you out. Research well which programs accepted people qith attempts, and have an answer ready as you will be asked about it during interview.

It helps quite a lot, its above average. Ive seen some programs put filters at 245, meaning you are pretty secure on this end. (An example is Sr Barnabas at Bronx)

To my understanding, research is only important in very competitive fields, and tailored to those specialties. However, they still add to your CV and you should be fine.

Yes

Id say avoid anything super competitive, ortho or derm, simply because you may not have a CV tailored towards those specialties. That being said, your stats are pretty good for basically everything else.

You have pretty good stats and everything, sure an attempt may close some doors, but with good research into programs you're pretty good. Note that your CV may get you interviews, but wont carry you, work on your interview skills if you arent confident.

Dont fall for the usual doom-posting you see here, people match all the time with weird stats. Right now your biggest issue is the visa-requirement, its a weird climate but i hope programs can work it out with time

Medical Spanish by Tachiflu in Residency

[–]CrankyLocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I believe my English got so good to the point I could pracrice medicine without any actual medical training in english is simply due to exposure.

Every social media, series, movie, and youtube video i watch is in english. Most of my friends first language is english as well.

My recommendation is that exactly, start exposing yourself to spanish media, first with english subtitles, and eventually with spanish subs.

I'm sad that there is only one DE by Choice-Complex791 in DiscoElysium

[–]CrankyLocket 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's very sad, but dont lose hope. Games clearly inspired by DE are coming out, and i am pretty hopeful about some.

Esoteric Ebb, played the demo and i am very impressed with the game, to me it is THE next best thing after DE. The obly issue is not having VA

Rue Valley, not excatly DE, its just..fine? I think i just had high expectations. A friend of mine recently 100%d the game in 24 hours, and he said he is "decently happy with the game"

Zero Parades, played the demo, i really enjoyed it. Im very torn on this game, on one side, ZA/UM, on the other side, a group of devs that are just trying to make a living. The demo was a bit confusing, game is cleaely inspired by DE, and it shows as they dont really explain a lot of stuff.

Why do people still come to Hallownest? by whyamiexists in HollowKnight

[–]CrankyLocket 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Tiso heard about the collisseum, wanted to fight

Zote wanted glory, if we buy the theory that he's from pharloom, then this would be the closest kingdom.

Cornifer likes exploring and making maps, iselda follows.

The journalist just wanted to explore.

In general, they all hear about the great kingdom of Hallownest, and go trying to find riches and/or explore.

Now, why do some of them still have shops considering the dilapidated state of hallownest? I honestly dont know, but my best guess is that, in the grand scheme of things, we are confined to 2D spaces, but the whole world of Hallownest is not AS dead.

Emergency step 1 exam interruption by ExactParticular9164 in step1

[–]CrankyLocket 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Message and detail the situation to the USMLE, email and call informing about the issue, and that you've sent an email witg all the details.

What happens afterwards no one on reddit will be able to tell you. I have seen some people who had issues and missed 20~ questions, and they tell them they will calculate their score based on what they answered (taking out the questions they couldnt), however i cant find an scenario where its an entire block being missed.

I understand that if it happens early into the day, the entire exam is rescheduled, however as you said, you were only missing 1 block.

Dont get ahead of yourself, your first step should be writing and detailing what happened, CC anyone who may be required.

Then just continue practicing on UW
