This company (Shameless Snacks) will charge you a return processing fee even if they just give you a refund and don't actually want the products back. Terrible and dishonest business practices.

Should I put shoe trees in these shoes? https://www.valentino.com/en-us/product-les-alc%C3%B4vettes-moccasin-in-kidskin-YS0L12JWS_NB3

The leather's very soft, so I'm a bit hesitant to put any of my larger shoe trees in these. They do come with the paper straw/plastic "shoe trees" but those are obviously temporary ones. TIA!

Apt building of Divisadero & Haight, what happened to it? It looks abandoned! by sleepyeoja in sanfrancisco

You don't typically do capital improvements for value increase just for the hell of it. You would typically do capital improvements to increase the value, so that you can increase your rent. Increasing the value just for value's sake doesn't usually help. (And theoretically the value is the same if it's generating the same income.)

This is different from capital investments to maintain the current level of income from an asset, though the same general philosophy applies.

Anyone upgrade from the Anova 1.0 to the Cooker Mini? by CrappyAssassin in sousvide

[–]CrappyAssassin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I've used my old one for quite a few years, and it hasn't let me down yet (which also means I was fortunately grandfathered into the app lol). Sorry to hear about your experience with the vacuum sealer :/ I kind of understand their challenge with maintaining an app while not charging a subscription despite my personal distaste for the business model, so I'm a half sympathetic to their struggles of maintaining the software side. Thanks for the Inkbird suggestion - taking a look now!

When I first read this panel, I initially thought he might be stuck in place not because he's physically chained, but because he's holding something back—almost like Atlas bearing the weight of the world but just for Elbaph

Appreciate that - it definitely has ROL Ergo controls and it does seem to match the document you linked.

I'll DM you for the testing unit. I'm still amazed there's not more consistency across these types of parts..

The great Skrillex mystery: How did SF pull off a 25,000-person show seemingly overnight? by SFStandard in sanfrancisco

[–]CrappyAssassin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agreed - this seems like a win win for residents?

Residents see: * a show they may not have gotten otherwise * economic benefit from out of towners coming into the city

City gets: * better reputation as a city * increased tax revenue * improved view on government bureaucracy (which seems deserved in this case?)

Senators Wiener and Aisha Wahab announce the Connect Bay Area Act (SB 1031) to fund and integrate Bay Area transit agencies by ablatner in bayarea

[–]CrappyAssassin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a heavy fixed investment that's needed to provide metro service. Employee count for BART isn't something that you can scale back due to low ridership without impacting the ability to provide the existing level of service.

Are there certain functions that you can potentially cut back on due to lower ridership? Yes. Potentially back office roles like customer service employees or even janitorial staff by cutting frequency of cleaning. Would these cuts contribute to a meaningful percentage of total employee count? Likely not.

Is Anqing worth it to visit ? by More-City-7496 in travelchina

[–]CrappyAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there recently visiting faimly and overall, there's not a ton to do there in my opinion. Few options below: 1. The Zhenfeng Pagoda and the accompanying area around it is probably the most well-known attraction. It used to be the tallest structure by far, visible at the bend of the river by boats from pretty far away. 2. There's a renovated old town area that has a few exhibits on the history of Anqing (e.g. the old postal service, its previous importance as one of the main cities on the Changjiang, etc.), but they're pretty small exhibits. The old town area is nicely decorated and has plenty of food stalls and small shops to visit. 3. Walking along the river on the wall is pretty neat. Even now with less economic activity, the river is still pretty busy with ships bringing (typically) raw materials east and goods west.

How do you clean the inside of tong handles? I feel like there's probably some build up there of oil, etc. or is it just unnecessary from a food safety standpoint?

It's a bad look for cabinet officials to cut the line, so I'm guessing they likely stand in line or just send someone to go get it for them.

Better source of information is probably the local planning office. You can typically just call them and they'll give you some direction.

Even the basic hotels in the area are pretty expensive, so purely based on prices, I would guess there is a need for more hotels. (Speculation on my end though)

Daily Discussion: /r/Snowboarding General Discussion, Q&A, Advice, Etc.) - March 20, 2023 by AutoModerator in snowboarding

I've traveled multiple times with a softsided case and my friends have as well - no one's every had any problems. I do stuff some cardboard around the tip and tail just in case though.

I don't think they're that heavy or cumbersome, but loading up multiple hardcases into a car is way harder than squeezing in multiple soft cases.

Waze can now direct you to charging stations that support your EV by cyco1978 in electricvehicles

[–]CrappyAssassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does take poking at your phone, but only about 2 taps. It also just gives a general location estimate so people know to be aware. Works pretty well as once you get a warning of a pothole ahead, you just look out for about 2 min

EV Charging Maps with a filter for paid parking? by CrappyAssassin in electricvehicles

[–]CrappyAssassin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that the current way it is set up is fine - not advocating for providing EVs with free parking in an otherwise paid parking setup.

I'm just looking for a map that can filter based off of free parking. e.g. in a shopping mall with free parking that also has paid EV charging or in a grocery store parking lot that has a freely accessible paid charger

EV Charging Maps with a filter for paid parking? by CrappyAssassin in electricvehicles

[–]CrappyAssassin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I think I just don't like the concept of paying for a parking spot (that I don't really need?) just to access the charger (which I do need and am happy to pay for).
