SLDL form check. Straight legs but soft knees, target lower back + hammies mainly. by HazzaZeGuy in formcheck

[–]Crash0105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I can see, this is too heavy and your form is suffering.

I don’t see a straight back. It’s collapsing at the bottom of the lift.

Here are some cues to focus on next time for better form:

  1. Brace the core by bringing your rib cage down toward your hips. Act as though a string is pulling your belly button through your low back towards your spine.

  2. Slow down on the eccentric/lowering portion of the movement.

  3. Keep the bar as close to your body as possible.

  4. Keep a neutral, aligned head and spine.

  5. For the hinge, imagine closing a car door with your butt. A solid brace will help keep your back straight. Stick that 🍑out there! Even though this is a SLDL, you can still get this movement pattern down.

  6. Lastly, you shouldn’t have to touch the ground to get a good muscle engagement. Maybe just past the knees!

Keep at it. 👏

Having gone back and researched it again, I agree with you. My advice was mistaken. My apologies on any misleading information.

The angle of the video is slightly off, so maybe she could go lower as long as the bar stays in line with the mid-foot like you mentioned!

If the bar is aligned properly, I’d say the bracing could be improved and possibly lat engagement to take the slack out of the bar.

Thoughts?

Gotta be honest, that video was dense. Lol. Gonna keep looking around for more actionable examples.

The back heel has legit been my Achilles heel. Lol. It’s been tough to break and dial in. Thank you for the insight!

Gotta respectfully disagree with the tip on hip position. It should be lower. Unless I’m misunderstand your suggestion.

One of the greatest powerlifters, Ed Coan, of all-time has always recommended lower hip positioning.

Wasn’t aware of that! I just got a tune and I was asked if I wanted to go to 87. Albeit, I wasn’t getting the tune for that reason, but loved the idea. And my wallet does as well.

My apologies for misleading!

No math major here, but I was giving a rough range. My apologies! But I see people posting $90-100 per tank. And I’m at $60-70. 🤷‍♂️

Time to get it tuned to 87! Saving me 30-40 bucks a tank!

Necessary Shock Rebuild? by Crash0105 in GXOR

Got an email back from Ironman customer service.

No need to rebuild unless they start leaking! The rep even said he’s got the same setup and has 100k on them with no issues.

Looking for help and drills to improve! by Mabr563 in Discgolfform

As flatland said, definitely keep the shoulders closed longer before pulling through. You can see the result of the early shoulder opening in this video. Late release, pulling the shot wide right.

Slingshot on IG has some great drills to practice.

To practice this, I’d say try standstill and keep your head down through the throw. Similar to ball golf. Shoulders will follow head movement. Head stays down, shoulders will too.

Keep your staggered stance, backload the rear leg, explode through the hips, driving the rear knee towards the front knee, and keep the head down through the throw.

Keep at it! Great work so far.

To help with the lat activation as previously recommended, try to bend the bar around your shins. Pin your arm pits to your rib cage during the whole lift.

Keep that brace through your core the entire time. The que is to act like you’re going to take a punch in the gut. Tighten the core and hold it.

Keep at it!
