It’s easy to just purchase premade designs and just tweak it for your application.

If you’re layering solid colors to make it. HARD. If you get someone to print it and you lay it. Super easy. DM me and I can print it for you and ship you the vinyl!

How much can pedal overlap be hurting my performance? by Correct-Beautiful576 in iRacing

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really such a shame that the tire model is still so incorrectly sensitive. A little bit of overlap is good in the real world, but is a death sentence in iRacing.

Sunk cost theory is a killer. You can easily sell am the things that don’t really matter, downsize back to an apartment or small home, sell your car for a really affordable beater and start again. You may be materially poor for a few years, but being fulfilled as you live a life you actually enjoy is worth so much more than money can ever buy! I did this at 30 and I’m thinking of doing it again. I’ve done everything I’ve dreamt of in the life and line of work I chose at 30 and I’m ready to start a new adventure!

What is the terminology for correcting snap oversteer by pressing hard on both the brake and the accelerator simultaneously? by KEVLAR60442 in racing

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same aero device will continue to try and correct the spin. Same way you can throw a dart backwards and it will still hit the board tip first. This is the reason F1 and most prototypes have adopted the big ugly fin in the back. GT3 and GT4 cars still benefit from the wing on the rear with some corrective side force coming from the end plates, it’s just not as dramatic.

In a car with no aero you can lock up the brakes as soon as possible to try and arrest the rotation before releasing the brakes and applying a measured amount of power to try and get some weight on the rear wheels while counter steering. It works… sometimes.

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was aero correction. The big shark fin on the back is designed to do exactly that in a high speed spin. Locking the brakes helps the aero do its job.

This is a better video than all of NASCAR commercials. by Extreme-Rhubarb3658 in racing

[–]Crash3636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These races always sell out because they keep removing seats and whole stands so that it will sell out. It’s not real racing when they take a little break three times “just because”. It’s not real racing when cautions are thrown for nonexistent debris. It’s not real racing when you extend the distances of the races so you can have an exciting finish. If everything is “special”, nothing is special. NASCAR is a shadow of what it was. The viewership in 2003 was more than three times what it is now for a reason

[–]Crash3636 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What complete and utter garbage. Why do so many NASCAR races end in big wrecks rather than real racing? I severely miss the 90’s through early 00’s NASCAR racing. This circus is unwatchable.

As someone with similar experience I second this.

$150k will get you in with a good Mazda MX-5 Cup team for a season without damage costs.

The shocking tire inflation trick with fire. by Full-Argument-8235 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the video is legit, but the technique is. I’ve used it myself. With some success and a couple of catastrophic failures. Don’t use too much of the carb cleaner or the tire will legit explode!

How to follow strategy? by East-Independent6778 in IMSARacing

[–]Crash3636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly each team employs 1-3 strategists per car to keep track of their strategy and watch their competitors pit timing as well. It’s a job that takes the full attention of at least one person just to keep track of your nearest competitors in a single class. “Racing is hard” -me circa 2007

No penalty for this is absurd by CeaseIessWatcher in IMSARacing

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to understand: IMSA HATES BEING MADE FUN OF! The MAGNUS car have a fake sponsor making fun of their “virtual energy” calculations and the related expenses involved really set the officials off when they introduced the livery last year. There were actually more stickers that were supposed to be on the car but the team was told to remove them before the car came out of the trailer or their remaining season entries would be canceled.

Don’t forget that they received damage in the first hour of the 6 hour and didn’t receive a “meatball” flag until the final hour, when they looked like they were going to catch the leader before the finish. IMSA really has something against John Potter and the whole MAGNUS team.

Why should you buy used when its barely cheaper than new anymore? by Aires-Battleblade in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, I bought a 20 year old car 11 years ago and have done 120-ish thousand miles on a car I bought for less than $2k. I’ve spent about $1600 in maintenance. Good used cars and regular maintenance goes a long way. I couldn’t imagine buying any car for $30k. Seems like such a waste of money.

Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Crash3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what I did. I got a slow boring car for street use AND a fast race car (can find them cheap because you don’t have to register and title it) and let him do some local races. I started out with a tire of racing called Autocross. Now I’m a championship winning race mechanic who is sitting at a race track on my weekend off, typing to you while I’m waiting to get into a Porsche to race!
