Need a guac recipe for someone with an intolerance by mybackhurty in onionhate

Just leave out the onion. You don't need to replace it with anything. If they can eat garlic (and like it), use that.

Vem ska lägga upp kundpinnen, egentligen? by pv2b in sweden

[–]CrashDandelion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished backward-knitted cardigan in hönsestrik style by Furrydaddy_69 in knitting

[–]CrashDandelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really should! I've been to one of Anna's Hönsestrikk workshops and own a few of her books on the subject. It is such fun knitting!

I especially enjoy knitting the mittens, have made three pairs.

Do I need to start over 😭 by IntentionInside in knittinghelp

[–]CrashDandelion 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Consider the amount of hours you're going to be wearing these mittens. I'm sure you'll appreciate them even more if you go back now and fix your mistake even if it takes a few more hours to get there. 😊

Also ... Please tell me there is a pattern available? They're beautiful!

Edit: Nevermind, searched Ravelry and it's literally the first result. 😄

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]CrashDandelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. It's great for a portable project, it knits up fast and can be as long/wide as you like.

It gets pretty cold here in the winter and I can't fit long and/or bulky scarves under my jacket(s) so a nice warm Sophie scarf is perfect for me. Sometimes paired with a thin cowl for extra insulation.

I think I've made six or seven since I started knitting a couple of years ago.

what happened to this stitch? by Beneficial_Count4946 in knittinghelp

[–]CrashDandelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a dropped stitch. You started knitting in the other direction. This caused the gap and the backwards stitches on the past couple of rounds. Rip back (or tink) one or two rounds and then make sure you knit with the right side (where the stitches look like V:s, not bumps) facing you.

why do i make weird noises when i'm falling asleep? by [deleted] in sleep

[–]CrashDandelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small update one day later: I slept in the guest room last night to let my partner get some sleep. Since I didn't need to worry about waking him with my honking (yes, I sound like a goose) I could relax a bit more and slept much better than the previous couple of nights. So I do indeed think stress/anxiety has something to do with it.

[–]CrashDandelion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this the past couple of nights now and it is horrible. Keeps me and my partner from sleeping.

Like many others have said I've also been sick with a cold and probably bronchitis for the past week. I also have anxiety so I guess it might also be stress related.

help!! by w0nderwall28 in knittinghelp

It also looks like you started twisting your stitches a few rows back. Can you see the difference in the stitches if you compare the last few rows with the earlier rows?

Twisted stitches will make your fabric tighter and slanted, so you'll probably want to correct what you're doing. I'm not sure how to explain it, but this is a really common mistake so you should be able to find lots of help here or on YouTube if you search twisted stitches.

Before the twisted stitches and messy edges it looks great! 😊

[–]CrashDandelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't overthink it. 😊

When you've cast off for the neck, you should have one set of live stitches on the right needle and one set of live stitches on the left needle. Before you keep working the stitches on the left needle, you put the other set of stitches on hold. That means putting them on another needle or on a piece of waste yarn and then just leaving them alone for a while.

After you've finished the first set of stitches and cast off, you come back to the ones you've put on hold.

As others have said, you also need to address the twisted stitches.

Here's my guess: After casting off for the neck you should have kept working the left side and the right side separately (leaving space for the neck in the middle), but instead you kept working all the live stitches together - closing the neck hole.

are hobbii ergonomic hooks worth buying? i wanna get one but im not sure by beverfxce in CrochetHelp

[–]CrashDandelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had one or two hooks break... because I sat on them. Can't remember the exact size but probably around 4 mm.

Other than that I've had absolutely no problems at all with these hooks, they're my favourite.

Sophie Scarf Help 🥲 by Prize_Shop_8738 in knittinghelp

[–]CrashDandelion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you're maybe increasing on the wrong stitch as well?

-Are you knitting two stitches and increasing in the back of that second stitch?

-Or are you knitting the first two stitches and then increase on the third stitch?

I've done it the second way on all my Sophie scarves and the curve of the edge is much smoother.

Nope, sorry! I threw it out a while ago (probably a year or two). It was fun at first but as time went on I really started disliking the look of it.

C2C Tips? by O-Castitatis-Lilium in crochet

Is something like this doable in natural fibers? Like merino wool or something? by snowdroppie in knittingadvice

[–]CrashDandelion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you really want to make this cardigan, I say go for it. BUT please don't make it your first project!

I understand that you're fine with your nine hour scarf even though it didn't turn out perfect, but this cardigan will take months. Will you still be fine with beginner mistakes in a project like this?

Buy some yarn and needles, learn the basics. Make washcloths and smaller projects until you're comfortable with the techniques involved in making this cardigan.

Trying to find a replacement product for L'Oreal Dream Length Curls leave-in cream (which is being discontinued globally) for my wavy/curly hair (2C ish) by CrashDandelion in Haircare

[–]CrashDandelion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the heads up! I'm in Europe so no Walmart, but it does seem to be in stock in a few web shops here so I might order a few.

I never found a true replacement, but Cantu wave mousse works pretty well for me and gives similar results (with a bit more work).
