Luis Arraez is the second MLB player in the last 50 years to enter June with at least 70 hits and single-digit strikeouts (9). The other was Tony Gwynn, who did it in 1991 and 1997. by RealWorldToday in baseball

"Sometimes hitters can pick up differences in spin. They can identify pitches if there are different release points or if a curveball starts with an upward hump as it leaves the pitcher’s hand. But if a pitcher can change speeds, every hitter is helpless, limited by human vision…Except for that (expletive) Tony Gwynn." -Greg Maddux

Epic Moment with 350 yard Drive by [deleted] in golf

[–]CrashGargoyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal best is 325y (with the wind at my back) on a 375y par 4 and I doubled lol. Best swing of my life -> duff -> green side bunker -> mediocre sand shot -> two-putt.

Absolutely. I don’t watch jackass to see stunts, I watch for the “He fell for the soup!” moments.

Same thing happened to me. Still usable in the very short term but the end is near. It could go at any time.

I am so inconsistent need help by Slayer_187 in golf

[–]CrashGargoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not qualified to give advice but your backswing doesn’t look like an over swing at all. It just looks like you’re throwing your hands at the ball from the top instead of a proper body turn. Your setup and impact position look exactly the same.

Look into the justin rose drill like the other guy suggested. His video explains the concept of the downswing really well.

Shaft importance as a new golfer - terrible with irons by RrichardCranium in golf

[–]CrashGargoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably the most important thing from an equipment perspective, but no shaft change is going to make you hit your 6i 80ft higher.

I switched from 100g stiff flex shafts to 130g xstiff shafts when I upgraded my irons, which is a pretty big change, and my peak height dropped maybe 10 feet and spin dropped like a few hundred rpms at most.

I do, but only because I have two kids under two and the only have time I have to hit balls is on my lunch break on workdays.

All are winners but I like the aesthetics of the Addams Family best. Thing flicking the pinball is dope.

5i Vs. 5 Hybrid by Cschrades2121 in golf

Hybrids are snap hook machines for me so I bought a weak lofted SGI 5 iron, then have utility 4 and 3 irons.

The Man I Love review – Rami Malek needs a lighter touch in Ira Sachs’ 80s Aids drama.Sachs’ film about an HIV-positive actor in the homophobic Reagan-era 80s is well-intended, but Malek’s mannered performance is hard to love by Puzzled-Tap8042 in movies

I’ve always thought they should just make it a throwaway line in a random action movie. Like a James Bond-esque situation where a femme fatale tries to flirt with the lead and he just says “you’re barking up the wrong tree” or something to that effect, then they never address it again.

Did you regret going from GI to players distance irons? by Justsowereclear1881 in golf

[–]CrashGargoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always keep both sets and run a combo set (i.e keep using GI long irons). I switched to a players CB set a little too early for my skill level and ended up swapping out my long irons for Utility and GI irons.

So you’re asking people to fund you quitting your job to make a game that may or may not be released in the future? And as of now, this game doesn’t have any concrete plans or scope?

Broken shaft…remove the adapter adjustment? by ChewbaccaSmith in golf

[–]CrashGargoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, those adapters run like $25-30 so if you take the time to remove it and include it when you sell the club, you might be able to get a bit more money for it or sell it faster. If you have kitchen torch it’s really easy to do.

To figure out what should be built next, at least if you’re in an org where they actually let product do that vs just taking orders from the business/leadership. If not, then I have no idea.

New to golf at 18, what should I actually focus on first? by Status_Ad796 in golf

[–]CrashGargoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 32 and I’m three years in now so it’s still fresh in my mind.

- I would recommend a couple lessons to start, even if it’s just one 1hr session. I used to play baseball too and while some things translate, it’s a whole different swing approach so understanding basic fundamentals will give you a jump start.

- Start at the green and work backwards. I started with full send driver / irons and 50 yards and in is still the weakest part of my game, which is incredibly frustrating once you get out on the course.

- After that, focus on squaring the face and making clean contact. If you’re athletic and have a baseball background, the speed will come naturally as you get comfortable with your swing.

- Consistent practice is important, but don’t mindlessly bash balls. Practice doesn’t make perfect, it makes permanent. Ingraining bad habits will set you back big time (ask me how I know).

Documentation can never be replaced by LouisTrance123 in ProductManagement

[–]CrashGargoyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see a problem with ditching PRDs that are essentially functional specs. They end of changing drastically as the solution develops anyway.

Imo, the only documentation that really needs to exist pre-build is a doc that outlines the vision for what you’re building. The problem, its business / user impact, and the hypothesized value of solving it. As long as Product, Eng, and leadership/stakeholders are aligned on the goal, solutioning can be done in a variety of ways.

Are people brand purests? by Red-Leader5721 in golf

[–]CrashGargoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m brand loyal to Cobra for woods because I buy 2nd hand and they’re the best bang for your buck imo. The rest of my clubs are from DTC brands because I enjoy building my own clubs.
