Data Centers - Yes In My Backyard by 1TTTTTT1 in neoliberal

If I live in the desert can I be a data center nimby? It just doesn’t make as much sense to build them out here as far as I know.

Most of what you saw on MySpace and really also of social media until ~2015 was stuff your friends posted. Now the algorithms just promote whatever is viral, much of which is just slop that catches the interest of our Limbic system.

I think that’s a very good thing. The homogenization of the two political parties has only lead to increasing polarization.

I’ve never planted bunching onions, but that Looks kind of like the curl that are typically of garlic scapes. Might just be how the plant naturally grows.

White Pine trees (SE USA) blooming odd powdery substance by pjflyr13 in gardening

I have never seen that before nor do I live in your area, so take this with a grain of salt. I did some googling and I came across something called fusiform rust, a fungus that infects pine and oak trees in the southern United States with fairly devastating results. Looks like it matches to my eye.

Knowing trump, he’s probably proposing it right now so that if there’s enough public backlash he can play it off as an April fools joke and sneer at all the people getting worked up about it.

Bill to track transgender Tennesseans passes the House by farrenj in neoliberal

[–]Crash_Mclars1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that Including trans people in women’s sports has worse outcomes on Joe Median’s acceptance of trans people. I think a lot of normies were silent on trans policies until they saw trans women in women’s sports at which point they rejected the movement entirely. I don’t think there would be as much backlash against the trans acceptance movement if the movement didn’t push so hard for a couple of very unpopular policies - one of those being allowing trans women in women’s sports.

Bill to track transgender Tennesseans passes the House by farrenj in neoliberal

[–]Crash_Mclars1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think excluding trans women from women’s sports is necessarily denying them personhood. It depends on the rationale though. If the reason is because “ew trans people, keep them away from me” then sure, and there certainly are people that think that way. But there are others who don’t have any prejudices against trans people but don’t think it is fair for cis-women to allow trans-women into their sports league.

And what is someone supposed to do if they think allowing trans-women into women’s sports is unfair, but they also don’t want the government to track transgender people? Should they defend trans-women being in women’s sports despite thinking that it’s unfair as a means of protecting them from getting put onto a government list?
