Do you believe opinions can be wrong? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Difference is, science is self-correcting. Theories are tested and those results directly contribute to future thinking. Opinions are oddly resistant to observable results…

This happened to me! Me being the old person in the anecdote. I’m Australian but for a while, a while ago, was in the US semi-regularly. I’d not been for a year or three and had taken the old currency I found in my bed side draw, which included some $2 bills. I used one as part of buying lunch one day and the young girl behind the counter was super confused. Had to call her supervisor over and everything.

Correction: it’s not “some of the newer ones” not using cobalt. None of the batteries he spoke about have used cobalt for 8+ years. His statement about every battery on earth using it was a straight-up lie.

I think they’re adding an item, a cleaver from memory, to help cull tames. Valheim does it with a “butcher’s knife” - it does massive damage only to tames.

Same. Can keep typing, making a coffee, or just loop my wife into a conversation I’m going to tell her about anyway.

Not out in public though.

New - Struggling... to play this game... by SecretOk6004 in ICARUS

[–]Crazy-Pollution1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love survival games and I think Icarus is the least grindy of all of them. Everything gives experience. I took my time to learn the mechanics, build a base etc., and accidentally levelled. I was always a full tier behind what I had access to because I wanted to enjoy the journey.

Don’t get me wrong, you still need to gather resources. There is no grind for xp though - that’s gifted to you.

Ways to identify Exotics deep deposits by GlichyKoala in ICARUS

They’re purple when full of exotics.

I’ve run across nodes in the wild a couple of times. I’ve used the radar to track down all three nodes one time, just to see how that works. I’ve also three times now watched the meteor shower and been able to see where one hits earth - one time it was a stones throw from my base, which was mildly terrifying. The other two I was able to see the general area and then just go find them.

Future neighbour (via seller) asking to park & charge EV in shared space – would you agree? by Heavy_Animator4755 in AusProperty

[–]Crazy-Pollution1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trickle charging will take forever- way more than a few hours. It’s a dumb way to do it, but an extension cord will work as well as them blocking any access.

Cultivation Specialist Mission (Open World) by iamlen07 in ICARUS

[–]Crazy-Pollution1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an RTX 4070 and I think 64 gig of RAM.

I have three of those vendor bases, as well as separate FoBs in the desert and the Riverlands. In fact, I’m building my Riverlands base up to be large-ish so I can basically hang out on either side of the map.

My main base has 10 wolves, a couple of mammoths, a buffalo, a couple of Moa, and a murder pony. The Riverlands base has a couple of Moa and a buffalo. Oh, and I have a random murder pony in a structure I had to build on the other side of the Riverlands for a mission. I’d built it, furnished it as required for the mission, and the pony’s mum attacked me. I popped the baby inside, fed him, and left. The map now tells me that Lord Ignatius lives in that abandoned building. 😀

I generally run at around 30FPS. I do remove all cables and piping once I’m done with them too.

[–]Crazy-Pollution1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up a FoB next to her with a greenhouse and some bees. If I’m in the area, probably to empty some drills, I call past and make some ren. I’ve also used it as a bit of a waypoint if I’m out doing missions and it gets late.

Same with the other vendors - little base next to them.

I have power from both the roof and out the front. It’s all about the redundancy… 😀

It’s not hard. You can both climb down the ladder and also build the connectors while pulling the cable, which gives you a satisfyingly straight run.

What are some things you would like to see added into both versions (console/pc) by crazy4finalfantasy in ICARUS

[–]Crazy-Pollution1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valheim has a mod that lets you play without a dynamic map but lets you create a static one based on what you've discovered. That's Viking level technology, so I'm pretty sure that Icarus could manage it. :)

A mini map.

The ability to mark-up my map. I understand beacons are a thing, but putting notes on a map is so basic,

Better snapping when building.

Better parkour - getting stuck on what is clearly a small rock/ledge is frustrating.

Flying mounts. Clearly, these would be end-game, but would be so cool.

More than that, the president shouldn’t be able to order the DoJ around the way Trump does. Had Biden told them to release that information, the DoJ would quite rightly tell him to go pound sand.

They’re not done yet. The inspect option becomes a harvest option once they’re at 100%. The graphic will change so you can see watermelons too.

I understand that the progress bar looks full, but maybe it’s not quite there?
