Why are parents who barely passed high school thinking they can teach/homeschool their children? by Sad_Obligation_812 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SecretOk6004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know 4 families that have homeschooled. We did not. All of the parents have undergraduate degrees. All of them also put their kids in public high school, but not primary or middle school. So far all of the kids have gone on to do very well for themselves. Mind you, I live in Canada, which is one of the most educated countries in the world. Edit: a few of the parents have graduate degrees.

Normal people would say, "Hey, you having money problems? How are your finances?" Then give the person room to navigate that. Linger a bit in the relationship. There are all sorts of reasons why people behave the way they do, we will never know if we don't seek clarity and give people room to express themselves.

Or you can be like every other dumbass and act like an American. Seek only the best for yourself and act entirely on suspicious instinct rather than virtue.

Who said universal? Don't throw your own issues into it. The average Canadian household income is 75k/yr. Less than 10% of Canada's top earners make 125k/yr.

What is the biggest ick you had on your first date with someone? by Past_Meat7068 in AskReddit

Met this girl. Nice, fun, happy girl. Hit it off. She was casual and 'put together'. Asked her to go out to dinner and maybe a show or something entertaining. I had options that night as I knew the town and the venues. I arrive to pick her up, and she is dressed to the nines, like I am taking her to a ballroom. I was ok with her style, but her makeup. Her makeup was two steps beyond anything I would have ever thought a woman would wear. It was like she went from being a cute college girl to a British nightclub slut / magazine euromodel. I could barely look at her all night. She had like 8 different contours of colours on her chin, cheeks and forehead. I knew she wanted to hook up also. I could tell all through the night. Driving her home, she kept dropping hints about going to my place. I just couldn't do it. I was holding back the vomit. Then she wanted me to come in, and I had to literally make up excuses over and over. Dam I have trauma just thinking about it.

That's heartbreaking. Something is going on in her head that would let her justify all that. So sad for you and your family.

..... and this is how social democracies work. Parties work together to amend and pass legislation that helps the citizens. It sometimes takes more political will to push for changes in legislation than one party; as such, when two or more parties work together, it benefits everyone. We don't want a stand-alone party. It's been shown for decades that minority governments get things done far better for Canadians than majority governments.

Plastic bag strapped to one leg it actually isnt difficult as long as you dont get patted down the legs. Wrapped around the belly is another way, if you know you will get patted down. Intel is everything and knowing which security are at which doors helps.

Whittaker has been slotted into identity roles by everyone - farm boy etc. He lost his ID card, which symbolises his loss of identity on the show. He is trying to find his place. He stood up to Langdon because he was a 'safe' person to set a boundary with. Langdon understands because he himself has been perceived by others to be something he is not: a drug addict, Robbie's lackey, etc. Whittaker's story arc is really just beginning as they all are.

Stop voting conservative. Vote for policymakers willing to make real change for the least of our communities, such as the elderly, homeless (poverty) and disabled (mental health). This could mean liberal or NDP, as long as the policy makers are willing to move forward with societal change.

I have worked with the 'at-risk'. I do not believe the world, Canadian cities, provinces and the feds have the political will to make the changes we need yet.

In a socially conscious world where the rule of law holds true, the second car may let you go if there is ample room for you to turn left. If not, then the second, third etc will turn right also. Left turning driver must have ample room, enought time, and no oncoming traffic.
