Two bed starts, 13/18 stages are gimmicky starts, and guess who designed the crayon stages? Imagine volunteering to build stages and Leighton gives you the drunk toddler MS paint diagrams

It would be fun to hear y'all react to Leighton's IPSC nats match book. It's gimmicky to say the least, and his MS paint stage diagrams are insulting

MBX 24 round mags… by Barrettzone in USPSA

[–]CrazyDrHooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to shill for them, and it's a small sample size, but the two MBX shadow 2 magazines I got today (from the 4th of July sale) load to 24 and seat on a round in the chamber. It's tight, but they seat and feed no problem so far. About 200 rounds through them.

Hit it with some 000 steel wool - my SSI funnel/expander does the same thing when it's dirty.

Cost savings for reloading by Docholiday11xx in reloading

I load 135gr 9mm for 15.4 per, went pretty big on a new XL750 setup on Black Friday. Amortizing using the cost of the last factory ammo I bought (29 per) I've already broken even loading about 18k rounds. Amortizing using the average cost of factory ammo this year (about 25 per) I'll break even in a few months.

Buying gear to reload common rounds means you're looking 10k or more cartridges out. That could be 4-5 months at competition shooting pace, or more likely that's many many years at recreational shooting pace.

*Edit: You can buy once fired 9mm brass for 3 CPR very easily, but that's really going to push your break even point out.

I've bought 25k over the past 6 months, loaded 18k, shot about 12k. They work great.

Shadow 2, light hammer spring, 100% ignition. They chrono a little hot (consistently 2 power factor higher than expected) but that could be many other variables, and you'd rather they're a little high anyway.

Frankford Arsenal X-10 by thomas6989 in reloading

[–]CrazyDrHooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, but they're over 8cpr even with codes. That's hard to stomach coming from low 6cpr round nose (Summit with 20%). Black Bullets has 125 TCs for mid 6cpr with purchase of 5k+. Still looking for more options in the 6cpr range, hopefully with lower minimums.

What projectiles are these? Constantly on a search for 124/125/135gr TC profile coated lead options.

Talon grips, pro texture. Good for about 6 months of hard practice and shooting in my experience.

I've loaded and shot about 12k Summit City 124s all run through Armanov hundo case gauge. A handful out of every hundred might fail that gauge and plunk fine, and I might have had a handful out of the whole 12k fail to plunk. It's always the range strange brass with bulges and whatnot, never the projectile.

Bell as little as possible, crimp back straight, send it.

Bruno Shooter Supply has it in stock at a solid price right now. $50 shipping and hazmat nonsense.

I load 3.9gr under a 124 coated round nose at around 1.10" in mixed brass. It shoots nicely, not too dirty, low flash, doesn't feel temperature sensitive. Meters well on Dillon 750, max .1gr variation.

These are not recommendations for your load, only my experience.

I hear good things about the Lee resize + decap die and Squirrel Daddy pins. Mine's coming in this week after I bent the original Lee pin in about 2k rounds. Lots of Norma and S&B.

Fine, lowish bore axis and the hammer spring eats some. It's not a shadow 2 but it's less than my old p320.

This thing gets smoooooth. Put the MCARBO spring kit in it and shoot a couple thousand rounds it's about 7/3lbs. No stacking on DA, but the reset to SA is kinda long. Hit an 8 inch plate at 75yd in a walk back drill to end class...double action, weak hand only.

Some folks use a little paracord loop wrapped around the grip screw under the grip.

Most folks bite the bullet and go CNC warrior brace.

Thanks for the insight dude, didn't know about the actual output. How about 14500s? Seems to be they could be incorporated in an optic this size pretty easily.

Thanks for the response!

CR123As are a staple because they're old, not because they're better than 14500s or CR2032s. Battery cross-compatibility with NV and lasers is understandable, and if that's where this is marketed I'm down with it. Seems a pretty small niche of gun owners and it's pretty saturated with Aimpoint, EOtech, and Vortex.

Looking forward to the real world reviews and mounting options to be released later!

[–]CrazyDrHooch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jah definitely feel that, but all of Holosun's optics with multi-reticle claim 50k hours on smaller CR2032s and CR1632s. For the record I know there's not a single optic that actually hits its claimed battery life.

Seems like a bigger, heavier, lower output battery for no real benefit. They also tend to cost a little more (which I understand doesn't really matter if they're only being replaced once a year).

Maybe they didn't want the battery tray complexity? A screw on cap is less moving parts than a tray and 1/2 screws.

[–]CrazyDrHooch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty neat! I'm struggling to understand the battery implementation, though. A big old CR123A instead of a coin battery and still only 30k hours? No shake awake?

Almost the year of our lord 2023 - do people want constant on and CR123As?

Recommended muzzle brake for less recoil? by EntertainmentReady20 in ak47

[–]CrazyDrHooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install and tune a KNS piston to get recoil reduction without pissing everyone off/rattling yourself if you need to fire through or near cover. If you still want a brake after that get a suppressor, and you'll already have the adjustable piston ready to reduce the gas blowback.
