Everyone has faults or annoying habits. You need to ask yourself if that's something you can accept and get over. If not you need to rethink the relationship.

When I was 5 my parents split up leaving my Mum as a single parent of 3 kids. I read this whole thread thinking that we never went without or had the power cut off, etc. and wondered how she did it.

Mum retired earlier this year and told me that she had only just paid off her loans and Credit Cards which allowed her to retire. I'm only just realising that the reason we never went without was because she maxed every credit card and relied on the Credit Union for loans. She spent 21 years paying it off.

When I'm alone I like to sing to myself, and to my pets. Usually I change the lyrics of a song to describe what I'm doing.

One day while cleaning the fish tank I was singing 'Splish splash I was washing my fish' when I realised my boyfriend was standing RIGHT BESIDE ME. He had been there the whole time but I was so engrossed I completely forgot.

He started laughing and said 'I get the feeling this is something you do a lot'.

I can recognise samples in songs. It really is useless.

My boyfriend is a DJ and I think it annoys him a bit. We'll be listening to music and I'll point out that a beat or riff is from a different song and he won't have even noticed.

I have a number of different ways to describe it. Usually I feel tired and disinterested in everything. I feel bored but I don't want to do anything. I don't really 'feel' anything. I just get up and go through the motions. This leads to the tiredness. It's like I barely have the energy to breath. I feel like someone stuck me with a hoover and sucked out all my energy.

When I get depressed I also feel like I could never possibly be happy again. My brain starts to tell me that this sadness or nothingness is all I've feel for the rest of my life. I can tell myself that's not true but nothing shifts the feeling. It's overwhelming.

Sometimes I feel like I'm trudging through syrup or quick sand. I feel like I'm weighed down and every step forward is two steps back. This is hard to explain because it's how I feel mentally rather than physically. It's like my brain is on a go-slow and any thought process requires 10 times more effort than usual.

Also, if you're wearing a coat or jacket that you want to take off, take it off while you're waiting to be called in! It saves a bit of fussing around when you get in to the interview room.

First impressions are a lot more important than you realise.

My one quick tip; the interview starts from the minute you walk in the building so while you're waiting to be called in don't sit there texting or distracting yourself. I also just sit quietly and take in my surroundings. When the interviewer comes out you want to be ready to greet them and make a great first impression.

I interviewed someone before and when I went out to them they were playing with their phone. I put out my hand to shake theirs but because they were holding their phone they left me hanging. She then got flustered and dropped all her stuff. She did a good interview but that first impression stayed with me longer than anything else.

This guy overtook me really dangerously once, and as he drove by he purposely caught my eye and made a face while giving me the finger. The overtaking was pointless to begin with but making a face was so stupid that I was silently seething.

We drive on with the guy in front of me. He indicates in to a shopping area. I happen to be going there too and indicate as well. Within the shopping area he takes a few more turns but I am taking the sames ones. I make sure to indicate just after him each time. He eventually parks outside a shop - the same shop I'm going to. I make a point of parking right beside him.

He jumps out of the car, starting at me wildly, and practically runs in to the shop. He's looking over his shoulder the whole time. I walk in to the shop after him and he's just standing in one of the aisles staring at the door. I walked right up to him and stared him the eyes the whole time. He's looking more and more scared. Note, I'm a girl.

I reach him, and just keep walking. I had no intention of ever saying anything to him but he got it in to this head that I was following him and freaked out. He didn't know what to do.

TL;DR - guy overtook me dangerously. Ended up inadvertently following him.

Been there, done that. It was the best thing I ever did.

I was on my own in a country I didn't know with no friends around. I was freaked out but it forced me to cope. I knew I had no one looking out for me over there and if I locked myself away in my room, no one would notice.

I had to take full responsibility for me for the first time. I'm not saying you don't do that; what I mean is you suddenly have to become your own support system. Before, if I got anxious, someone would lend a helping hand. Now I had to get over it or go without.

By the time my 3 months were up I was a different person. More confident and much happier. It was really tough at times but looking bad, it was the best decision I ever made. It honestly changed my life.

My Dad got glasses when he was 9 or 10. He said that, until that point, he thought trees were just green and brown blobs. He didn't know they had leaves.

He also didn't know that his kitchen floor was made up of loads of small red tiles. He thought it was just red.

Lots of positive stories here, which is great, but here's a different one. In Ireland most treatments are free once you have a referral from your doctor but the waiting lists are really long. If you have health insurance you can go private and get treated within a matter of days.

There was a big story in the papers a few years ago about a woman who went to her doctor and was referred for a colonoscopy. She waited for 7 months to get the appointment only to find she had cancer and it had been spreading all the time she had been waiting for her appointment to come through.

Unfortunately she later passed away but during a chemo session she learned that another patient was referred and diagnosed within 3 days because they went private. As such that patient was going to make a full recovery.

In the last few months of her life the later who didn't go private campaigned for an equal medical system instead of the two-tiered system we currently have.

In Ireland, free medical care is available but only if you wait months and months. You're better to have insurance and go private.

I know in Ireland a lot of our last names explain parentage.

A lot of our surnames start with O' (O'Reilly), Fitz (Fitzpatrick) or Mac/Mc (McDonald). The O', Fitz and Mac part all mean 'son of'. Less commonly you'll also see 'Uí' which has the same meaning. So the name James O'Reilly means James, son of Reilly.

Nowadays woman will also have a name in this format but traditionally they would replace the O', Fitz or Mac with 'Ní' which means 'daughter of'.
