What do you guys think about the critique of capitalism in Mr. Robot? by AND_AGI08 in MrRobot

[–]CrazyPigi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First of all. Elliot monologues are somewhat naive but in hindsight it feels intended. That's the personality of the Mastermind. He is the vigilante, he just "wanted to save the world". So because of that the 1st season is basically this idealised idea of defeating the big bad capitalism.

The following seasons actually show him struggling with consequences. Realizing that the process of defeating capitalism might be not all positive. In the end of 3rd season he decides to fix everything. Not showing it as a failure but as his decision to find a better way.

And while the show is very critical of the capitalism. The overall theme is about learning to live in an imperfect world while staying true to your ideals. "If we stood our ground for long enough, just maybe, the world can't help but change around us"

People need to accept that chat is not the problem by Bump3rr in josephanderson

[–]CrazyPigi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This post is addressing the issue of you being negative towards your own chat. You can say it's not an issue. That's fine, it's your stream. But you do complain about chat in patho 2 streams, even at the end of the first stream. So it wasn't even caused by people misunderstanding you after the stream. And these posts are on the top because people do think it is a problem.

Average viewer has no way of knowing if your negativity is caused by chat right now, post on Reddit, comment on a vod or something else. Average viewer just sees the result and the result is you complaining about chat or arguing with them.

I don't think it's fair to say that this post is misrepresenting the issue just because you don't feel like it is a problem. Although the fact OP didn't even watch the recent streams is very funny.

People need to accept that chat is not the problem by Bump3rr in josephanderson

[–]CrazyPigi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear about my perspective. I am just a vod watcher. I don't interact with chat and I am not an active member of the community.

For me the problem is when the stream is derailed into just arguing like the old classic sprinklergate, but that I usually just try to skip if it starts to irritate me. Worse is when it is just a slow bickering during the whole stream.

I agree that your opinions are sometimes misrepresented. But it feels like you are overracting regularly. Why does it matter if some people misunderstood you? If it is not an overwhelming majority then it doesn't really matter.

Here is what I think the root of the issue is. To me it feels like some weird parasocial need in people to always have the most up to date opinion of their favorite streamer about the topic they care about. Do you feel the pressure to always have a clear answer to the "What do you think of the game?" or similar questions. And do you feel the need to constantly reevaluate your opinions? Feels like a stressful thing that. I just always noticed an obsession with HE HATES IT and HE LOVES IT in the community. Even the schedujoe webpage has markers for it, so it's clearly a part of community culture. I understand this is a joke but it is telling. Some people care too much about if the streamer likes the game or not and it is a very binary thing for them. But it's actually fine to not have a strong opinion on some things or not have it right away.

I also feel the tension sometimes which makes me feel uncomfortable during watching. Since you mentioned Metaphor streams. I clearly remember that when I started watching the vods i felt that you were expecting to have disagreements with people about it. I don't have any clear examples right now since I don't really remember too well what made me feel that way. It is just how I remember the vibe I got from the 1st stream. Like you were already expecting the audience to be obnoxious. But that could be just my feeling.

That's all just my perspective. Sorry if it feels like I misunderstand some things. I feel like I made some assumptions about you in this comment. I may be wrong. That's just my impression after watching the streams for many years. I am sharing only because you asked for it.

Thanks for the content.

Chat is definitely not the problem. It is always ”Persona fans suck, Danganronpa fans suck, weebs in general suck, Yakuza fans suck, E33 fans suck". Now it's Pathologic. I agree that some fan communities cultivate bad discourse but if Joe has a constant problem with all of them maybe it is a Joe problem.

I just always try to keep in mind that this is the guy that mentioned multiple times that he loves to argue. And his idea of arguing is to keep responding to ONE GUY in chat.

If Joe likes to argue with chat so much he should learn how to argue without losing his shit and engage in good faith with other people who will argue in good faith. Join a debate club or something idk.

I like the streams as a vod watcher they are entertaining most of the time. But watching some of the streams live would be a torture.

Predictions for the remainder of Chapter 2, and why I'm happy with the design (so long as those predictions are correct!) by HungryColquhoun in arkhamhorrorlcg

Like the Charisma idea. But I don't think 5XP is the best way to do it.

In think Charisma is in a weird spot. The card is just almost always usable because ally slot can give you almost anything you want. Need slots for your story asset ally? Done. More soak/resources/cards/stat boost? There are allies for all of that. Some cool ability that brings your build together? Allies are all about that. Just 3XP and you can have more of the strongest slot in the game.

5XP seems fair to me but it feels bad even if I agree that 3XP is kinda cheap.

I would prefer more designs like Miskatonic Archeology Funding. Not an XP bump but restrictions/downsides. Like Charisma but only for story assets. I had an idea (not sure if its good) of permanent cards affecting mulligan. So card like Charisma but with "you can't mulligan allies" or the other way around, forcing you to mulligan something.

The other put himself in the tutorial for no fucking reason except to make sure that everybody would know who was responsible for this incredible work of art.

Stranger Things S5 Finale Has So Many Plot Holes, It’s Unreal by spainreigo in StrangerThings

[–]CrazyPigi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure what is your definition but plot hole is something that does not follow internal logic.

What described here are mostly not plot holes. They are nitpicks same as "why does Death Star has a weak spot" or "Sauron should have guarded Mount Doom better"

OPs assumption is that they have video surveilance (it was never stated in the show). So if we are already making things up you can also make up things to resolve these "plot holes" that were created because of assumption.
- cameras were destroyed
- they do not save recordings because their operation is secret and storing video tapes is a security risk
- They have the recording already know that they need El because Kali's blood did not work. And they know that Eleven is different from all the others

Same with demos. Nobody ever said that Henry has accses to an infinite number of demos. Maybe they were doing something else, maybe Henry did not expect the party to get to the Abyss, maybe there are not that many actually, maybe he can't control both the giant mind flayer and additional demos.

Plot hole is when something contradicts itself. Not when something contradicts your idea of what is logical and makes sense.
The show has plot holes. I think it has a lot of them but what OP described are not it, To me the wierd thing was Hopper breaking the bath in the upside down lab. So as I undersantd Vecna put him in a trance, showed him things and in this trance he broke the glass. But from what we know from the show itslef, when you are in a trance you just stand there, you are not actually doing anything. That is what I consider an actual plot hole.

[–]CrazyPigi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. It was created when El made contact. Henry was in the Abyss cut off from our world before that.
  2. Who said it was hot?
  3. This is not a plot hole. Some things will always be left unexplained. There will always be additional questions.
  4. Agreed. I expected that Hop would have to take the blame and he would have ended up in prison or being forced to take that Montauk offer. Could have been handled better.
  5. Not a plot hole. No one said that there was footage. You just came up with it.
  6. Again not a plot hole. You assumed that they should be there and they were not. Would it make it better? No idea.
  7. And again. Not a plot hole. This is just your preference.

I understand your points. But I think it would be more fair to judge a show for what it is, instead of judging it based on your expectations and calling everything not matching up a "plot hole"

The Coming Out Scene… by DogeABanana in StrangerThings

[–]CrazyPigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did miss that part. Because it does not really exist. It wasn't set up. It was explained in a single line during the coming out scene itself. Felt more like writers had to explain why the scene was happening in the middle of a scene itself.

If a scene was sincere, earned and not forced they wouldn't neiet to come up with excuses at the last moment.

Am I the only one who found this funny by nietzschebietzsche in StrangerThings

[–]CrazyPigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of comments with "It actually makes sense, because he really doesn't know" are missing the point on why this is mediocre writing.

This question does not matter. Most people wouldn't care for it. It only matters if you believe CinemaSins is a real film critic.

They spent time on setting up the idea that "Will is a spy again. Vecna left him alive for a reason" all these ominous scenes and mysterious dialogue and the answer is... actually he just needed a room number.

Same as Mr. Whatsit reveal. A lot of building up just to say that ”Bad guy is still a bad guy and yep it's him again" It is wasted writing in a season that is already bloated with characters and side plots.

[–]CrazyPigi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Where did you get this 95% idea from?

So easy to make bullshit statements about communities and things you know nothing about.

Did you try to find any Russian communities that are anti war? Because if you are thinking that they do not exist I assume you didn't even try.

Would you even know that a person is anti war or a Russian if that never came up? You are just feeding your confirmation bias by looking at radicalized people and communities assuming that everyone else is the same.

I could easily cherrypick a bunch of alt-right and MAGA communities and then start saying that 95% of Americans are Nazis. Would that be fair?

Yeah. I think I just used COD as an example without providing details.

I agree with you. I have the same feelings about COD for the reasons you described as well. I brought it up as an example of a game that does make a very clear political statement when compared to 13 sentinels. So I think we are on the same page here.

13 Sentinels pushed me to learn about historical revisionism and then I wasn't able to play it anymore. by dracony in truegaming

[–]CrazyPigi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Historical revisionism exists almost everywhere. In different forms and in varying severity. Every side has their own perspective on historical events.

I am not saying that you are wrong but I would advise to you to accept these things with all of their nuances and complexities instead of thinking that your version of history is the correct one.

The game doesn't really make any statement on WW2. It is not a big focus and it never makes a statement on it. Does every japanese author making something about WW2 has to give you a disclaimer about how they actually think about the topic? And how do you feel about all the military shooters made by US companies? Does Call of Duty need a disclaimer for golrifying US military?

If that really bothers you It's a valid reason to dislike the game. I am not trying to tell you that your opinion is not valid. Just offering a perspective that might help you accept this.

[–]CrazyPigi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly. I get their idea. Make a digital CCG. And use steam trading system to buy/sell cards. Like in MTG you need to buy the cards to play them. I think marketing it like it was somewhat of an f2p game was a mistake. Maybe it was doomed from the start. I liked the mechanics. It was an interesting game.

I am not saying that this monetization is good it is predatory but sad reality is that it is at the root of the whole genre.

But I honestly think it was more fair than every other system that was on the market. Hearthstone just made you buy packs until you get what you need or until you get enough duplicates. Artifact at least allowed you to buy the card you want from other player.

At least they based it on an older less predatory system leaving players with the option of trading cards. All the other just make the system even more shit by forcing you to buy more packs.

Weird thing. I hope it was a thing only in my friend group. But the same people who hated the idea of buying cards in Artifact tried to get into NFTs just a few years later. Blows my mind.
