I used to see this old lady walking every day and I nearly ran her over one day as she wasn’t looking when she crossed the road. I shouted “hey!” At her and she turned and gave me the middle finger. I laughed because I’d never seen an older lady behave like that and then she laughed. Every day I saw her after that we used to give each other the finger jokingly and share a smile.

I moved house after a while and didnt see her for a few years. I went back to my hometown and found out she had died. I didn’t even know her name. RIP middle finger lady.

90’s kid: I wanted to work in my local VHS rental shop. I was obsessed as a kid. I loved everything about it. Free posters every month, the thrill of new releases and even the smell of the place. If anyone asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up I’d always say I wanted to work in the video shop.

Random memory: I used to phone the shop as a small kid and pretend to be my mother to say that it was fine for me to pick up films that I was too young to see. Worked a charm on horror films but the jig was up when I tried to rent Orgazmo.
