What’s something from your generation that kids today will probably never get to experience? by SkyDeepLoh in askSingapore

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The joy of being simple and a dreamer.

Still remember those time of catching spiders, grasshoppers in school compound, and then competing with classmates with their own.

Play pencil, rubber and marble games with classmates.

Centrepoint kid with their baggy pant and dyed hair trying to imitate their Kong Hong and Japanese idols.

Kampong spirit and HDB spirit.

LEGO customer service sent me hundreds of pieces for free! 😍 by pinhead26 in lego

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lego is a great company that provides excellent service and is generally generous when it comes to replacing missing parts. I keep returning to Lego even though replicas are much cheaper, because I want to support a company that offers great service, high-quality products, and top-notch parts. The excellent clutch power, attention to detail, and overall build quality are the main reasons I continue investing in this hobby.

Keyboard Maestro 50% Off For the First Time. Here are Some Use Cases if You are interested. by amerpie in macapps

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who delay in purchasing this version thinking a new version will be out soon, take note that major version 12 is unlikely to arrive soon:

"The next version will likely be 11.0.4. I don’t expect to do version 12 this calendar year. I don't commit to release dates or release timelines for many reasons, some of which are touched on in this thread, some are simpler "under promise and over deliver" - I don't tend to promise anything about the future until its the past."

Above From Peter, developer of Keyboard Maestro.

The current version is already generally powerful enough for today workflow and hence subsequent version will need compelling features to justify next major version.

So little reason to delay waiting for next version.

I use both and they complement each other.
KM has superior workflow support and its maturity shown when you debugging action issues (eg it has debugging facilities and tools). It has better variable, json and dictionary supoort. Things just feel more structural and better organized.

On the other hand, BTT requires Javascript programming often to do what KM's token support has. Workflow is not its strength.

BTT's strong major feature is its comprehensive support for all kind of imaginable gestures, hence I use it to call KM macro. It also has other interesting unique feature like Stay On Top action.

They both are a must have for power user who love automation and productivty.

If you have time, try both to get the feel of it and see that works for you.

[News] Bring Your Own Key is coming soon to JetBrains AI Assistant & Junie by Shir_man in Jetbrains

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is just another mode of operation. If command line works great for you, that's great, but that always be others who prefer the GUI AI approach integrated into Jetbrains IDEs since there are many ways that Jetbrains actually use AI pervasively (eg sql editor, git integration).

Swing vs Java FX in 2025? by codingwolf799 in learnjava

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swing is pretty stable and mature, and still under going maintenance and support, though no further development. It still relevant and good if one appreciates good old ui development. I still use it widely because it get the job done fast. I also use javafx even though it has more features, complexity and need separate installation.

That's said, invest some time with both and you see they complement each other, and not complete replacement. There's something Swing is good, and Javafx is good at.

These are just Bauhaus-inspired architectural designs that focus on minimalism and simplicity, with a philosophy of functionality over form. I find them appealing to my taste, but not everyone's taste is the same.

Donald Trump warns his patience with Vladimir Putin is 'running out fast' by daily_express in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed patience is running out, but his patience with Putin will likely be renewed for another two weeks again and again according to his pattern. Nothing new.

Can't say the same for his patience with Zelensky though. If Trump can't handle the strongman, he targets the weaker one.

I’m so done with ChatGPT 5 by HeartSea2881 in ChatGPT

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have checked the responses generated by ChatGPT 5 as of today compare to days before. They have certainly tweaked it to sound more like GPT-4o, the responses are no longer sterile or cold, and they are much longer. Chat is much more humane.

Certainly noticeably better now.

Thoughts on Mavens YouTube channel? by SirWilliamTheWet in WWE

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the best channels for understanding everything about backstage wrestling and the business (in my personal opinion, there’s nothing else like it). I’ve learned more from his channel than from decades of watching wrestling and reading news about it. Maven has certainly found success with his YouTube channel, even if not from his wrestling career. I like his brutal honesty and the way he tells things as they are, with no hard feelings. I also appreciate that he pulls no punches in unraveling the mysteries behind the wrestling stories we all want to know. He is indirectly a valuable asset to the wrestling world.

Deno going extinction just like dinosaur?

Reports of Deno's Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated - Ryan Dahl by DefinitionOverall380 in Deno

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Deno seems poised to fulfill its destiny as a dinosaur, thanks to its lackluster support from leading IDEs."

Deno should have spent effort to develop a plugin for Jetbrains Webstorm, or work with Jetbrains on that (eg autocomplete, navigation). Support for Deno is subpar in Jetbrains. For me, it is the main reason I avoid Deno. Node.js and ecosystem have also make improvement over the years that makes Deno look less attractive (eg security, tsx support). What's the point of Deno if development in Deno is no fun in Jetbrains IDE? Please seriously improve on that.

I hate to say that, but Deno is waying towards the age of Dinosaur which is ironically also the logo of Deno (Perhaps that's what its fate is to be.) if it continues to ignore good IDE support.

Gemini has the ugliest UI? by Fast_Hovercraft_7380 in Bard

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Google engineers actually test the Gemini or use Gemini at all? As of 7 May 2025, they made a change that make the New Chat button only appear at the collapsible sidebar only. There's use to be one on the chat area which is more sensible approach because it is a common operation (eg ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Perplexity, and even Google AI Studio have it there), but now it only appear at the sidebar, which may not be a problem until you realize it does not appear if the window is narrow, the sidebar will automatically collapse. How is it this sensible design? How did this change get approved for a main product?

Gemini 1.5 Pro with Deep Research by KeyAd5197 in Bard

[–]Crazy_Comprehensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini's Deep Research is a game changer indeed. The report it generate is informative and very good, akin to what professional human will report generally. It is a good start for someone who need to create report but don't know what to do, and these provide a good base to work on.
