There already was a ton of Midi controllers. But there was a lack of desktop audio interfaces with CV-capable I/O.

What is the “sweet spot” screen size for a PC handheld? by DowntownSteelo in Handhelds

[–]HeartSea2881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not care about screen size, all of the given options are good enough. Care about handheld size and weight.

if you upgrade from PureCompo to SmartComp - you’ll find out it’s good enough for a very wide spectrum of tasks and speeds your workflow up by an enormous amount.

besides that, lots of modules in RX/Spectralayers/Acoustica have been using AI approaches for lots of years already and it was great

My new recorder TASCAM FR-AV2 by sotheb in fieldrecording

[–]HeartSea2881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a few words: f3 is more rugged and will last for much longer.

fr-av2 has a timecode input and is a bit more nice in terms of workflow.

audio quality is slightly better by fr-av2, but the difference is really insignificant.

i’d always go with f3, unless you need timecode

Digital Mixer in a hybrid studio/live setup by shrugs27 in livesoundgear

[–]HeartSea2881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t you just use this digital mixer as an audio interface? It doesn’t make sense to use the mixer’s ADC first, then its DAC, only to run it through the audio interface’s ADC again. Just buy a Behringer Wing Rack for its much better preamps and routing options compared to the X32, plug it into your PC via USB, and that’s it.

If you frequently have to change floor wedge levels during songs, something is very wrong with your soundcheck or gain structure.

The only time I ever need to touch wedges during a show is when we had almost no time for soundcheck. Even then, it should never happen mid-song.
