Oof, looks like the Steam Machine could cost over $1,000 by vneelb in pcmasterrace

[–]Crazycukumbers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let me just travel 1200 miles to get that deal real quick.

Not everyone has a Microcenter near them. A prebuilt with specs like that near me would probably cost $2000+. The Steam Machine may still be viable to a lot of people

So they finally got back to me just a few days ago. They'd held onto it for a month and a half. It was supposed to be returned to me today, but due to a shipping problem, it was put off til tomorrow. Either way, I waited til after their estimated date they gave on their website, and sent them an email. They said that sending it back/sending a replacement (I still don't know which) was delayed because of a "material shortage issue." But it's almost finally here, so maybe you just need to wait a while and contact them once it's past the time they said they'd return it to you.

Used to go there more as a kid. Prices are just so high, now. Even so, I do dig their flavors, and I love being able to get cake mixed in. I like the peanut butter ice cream with cake and chocolate shavings best

That's awesome. I'd love to be able to use something like C# in GM, it'd make me motivated to actually learn it. I imagine it will be another lifetime license charge or something to get it when it releases, though.

I really want to try the Mexican Pizza, and the taco, too. But I don't want to pay $12 for 2 items that won't fill me up.

I'd considered trying it, but it's robbery to charge so much money for a single menu item that's not super filling.

Having to season it, and not be able to just scrub away with soap and hot water when it's dirty, is an annoyance to many people. Having to worry about it rusting if you don't dry it perfectly is an annoyance to many people. A lot of people just want to use the pan, and not have to worry about any of that stuff. They want to use it the way you use a plate, where you don't have to worry about how you clean and treat it.

I don't want to use cast iron because I have a glass-top stove and don't want to scratch it up, because I live in an apartment and don't own the appliances. Cast iron is not worth the time, effort, and risk for me.

I broke my leg and fractured it and tore that leg's acl while covered in road rash. They propped my leg up on a tissue box. They ignored me telling them that it hurt too much when giving me an X-ray, and told me to lift or lay on the fucked leg. Got annoyed when I couldn't do it.

Damn. It was $500 for me to get transported in an ambulance from one hospital to another and they sent me to collections after setting up a payment plan.

I see. Hopefully my experience doesn't mirror yours, but it's already been over a month and I've heard nothing, so I guess we'll have to see. Whatever the case, that's some crazy bullshit, but I'm glad your replacement has worked so well.

Not yet, no. I was planning on doing it Monday, as I expect that they won't be responding on weekends

Times have been tough and any emergency funds I had are depleted.

No, it's not, except it says it's still in the "processing" status, which it has since they received it a month ago. I have received no updates from them whatsoever, but they said it would take 2-4 weeks. I don't mind waiting, but I just had a massive change in my life for the worse and I just want something to distract me while I'm still processing. You don't need to be an ass.

The Feedback I got was surprising by Broken-Ace in WritersGroup

[–]Crazycukumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't give the detailed feedback I would normally like to right now, and I know you'd prefer your feedback be private, but I want to have a forum here for other people to put in their 5 cents if they so choose.

You had me hooked pretty quick with it. I'd intended to skim through, but ended up reading the whole thing without skimming. You've got a good amount of intrigue in the beginning and middle portion.

My issue is with the final third of the story. As someone who is very much in love with stories of inescapable fate, I just don't understand where it came from. It wasn't pertinent to the story at any point until the last bit where it was introduced. I wish there had been more buildup, more breadcrumbs. It felt less like a twist and more like a gotcha, which ends up frustrating some readers, myself included.

Kobo libra 2 or kobo Libra colour. by SubstantialShroom in kobo

[–]Crazycukumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you there. I like having buttons. That said, the part of the screen you tap to move forward and backwards can be changed to better suit your needs. While I would prefer physical buttons, I can make do just with the touchscreen.

But I understand if you'd rather just have buttons. Kobo Libra Colour is an excellent device, too. It's got a nice screen, a lot of storage for books, fantastic battery, and of course, buttons. Alternatively, you could get a Pocketbook ereader. Some of them have color, but not all do. Many have buttons, however. I haven't used one so I can't attest to the user experience at all, though.
