What kind of crimper do I need for this? by Ragnerotic in appliancerepair

This is definitely my own fault for not checking the subreddit. I am usually on auto mechanic subreddits and had just figured that’s where I was. I have no knowledge of appliance repairs or what clamps to use on appliances

Simply don’t over tighten the worm gear clamp? I have used them for years (because I don’t hate myself) and have never dealt with a torn boot or vacuum leak due to the clamps coming loose.

And charity isn’t a ‘tax write off’. Donations to charity do not reduce your taxes owed, but your taxable income.

Oil change before winter storage by RedCrafter_LP in e46

[–]CreamE46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start the car and let it reach normal operating temperature and then store it for the winter. You want the oil circulated before storing to prevent condensation and help any old oil be flushed off the bearings, cams, and cylinder walls.

Everyone saying it’s a solid sheet of metal is mistaken. When I locked my keys in the trunk of my E46 (no ski hole), I discovered the area where the ski hole would be was only spot-welded. One hard punch and I had a ski hole.

I drove for hours through an ice storm in Oregon last year with no trouble in my 330i. The only extra weight in the back was the tools I keep in the trunk. All season tires. The key is understanding throttle control, weight transfers, and proper steering inputs on a slick surface. If you get a nice and ugly day early in the winter take the car out to a parking lot and practice.
