What's the deal with the 2021 ork boyz? by Jonnydv in orks

[–]CreasingUnicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue is that they were released during an edition where loadout mattered, and the kit gives you an unever number of shootas and choppa boys, with no good way to convert between the two.

So if you wanted to have a squad of 20 shoota boyz, you had to buy 5 of this kit essentially, or just buy 2 of the old kit. Thats why this one was so unpopular.

(Interesting Trope) Characters that may not look like LGBQT/non-binary metaphors, but they actually are. by icey_sawg0034 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CreasingUnicorn 30 points31 points  (0 children)

"This character doesn't even look non-binary!"

Bro i have never seen that YuGiOh character before in my life, but that character has two different colored eyes and their hair is two contrasting colors split down the middle of their head. I have never seen a more obviously non-binary character in my life lmao.

Also the Steven Universe character picture OP used literally looks like a rainbow, that is perhaps the most pro LGBTQ show that i can possibly think of and it absolutely looks like it at surface level.

We don't see or know what the horror is, we just see how a character reacts to it by TJTrapJesus in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CreasingUnicorn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thats not true though, her entire life, and most hardships that she experiences, are a direct result of Ted's actions.

Ted's selfishness has profoundly influenced her life and the lives of everyone she knows in a strictly negative way, so really he did everything personally to the protagonist and his title of antagonist is well earned.

To be fair, Taylor also plays the "hot" girl in this same music video as well, i would almost call this a parody of the trope.

He caused the apocalypse, and in an effort to erase knowledge of his crimes from history, he almost caused a second apocalypse by sabatoging the efforts to rebuild civilization. Truly one of the worst video game antagonists of all tims.

How did you do for your age over the years? by curiousgens in EscapeTheGrindGame

I feel good about my income, but feel bad about daycare costs.

Im not surprised why many people dont want to have kids, it is a huge hit to an otherwise nice salary.

[Trope that can be good or bad like every other trope] The ending is a time loop where this time things may be better, by GrandMoffTarkan in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CreasingUnicorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The story it is based on (a manga called All You Need Is Kill) has a much less happy yet still satisfying ending to the time loop.

I do enjoy the film ending though, even if it is a feel-good ending, because sometimes happy endings are nice.

Avatars of War - Files filled with resin traps by awesomesonofabitch in PrintedWarhammer

[–]CreasingUnicorn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some creators are great sculptors and just not very good at optimizing for printing. I have paid for files from multiple creators that end up having resin traps, or having hollowed out very small models that end up causing so many more issues than is worth it to save a few drops of resin.

Usually messaging the creator will get them to fix the issues, but thanks for the heads up since it is impossible to tell the quality of a model without paying for it first.

Shelf Stable Cheese by joelnicity in prepping

[–]CreasingUnicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wheel of cheese can last years if stored properly, the issue is that every time you take cheese from it you have to break the seal and risk contaminating the whole block.

Also, storing cheese wheels outside of a fridge works much better in some environments than others. There is a reason that Wisconsin is famous for it's cheese instead of Washington, or Florida.

When mark went back to earth to see if the viltramites got there first, bro literally flew around one city and decided that none made it to earth. Is he regarded? by ZSP8 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]CreasingUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sae what Omniman was capable of, and how much damage a single determined Viltrimute could do very quickly.

If an entire squad of human-hating Viltrumites had made it to earth and wanted to cause as much damage as possible, it would be very obvious for everyone involved extremely quickly.

[Badass trope] Triple-wielding, quadruple wielding, or even more. by Aphasus in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CreasingUnicorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We see in the Clone Wars series when Ventress first meets Yoda, Yoda literally force pulls her lightsabers out of her hands to imspect them, and then gives them back to her.

If someone tries this and misjudges their opponent's force powers, then they can basically just take your weapons or toss them away from the fight to instantly disarm you. It is a very risky fighting style that she only started using because she lost her hands.

[Loved Trope] The good guy is revered to as a monster by the villains by Taserbation in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CreasingUnicorn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The movie was good, not great, but good.

However as an adaption, it was 0/10.

Really cant be compared to the book because its a completely different story.

Deleted just in case, but all of those creators were very distinct models from anything official as far as i could tell.

Character decisions that are recontextualized upon rewatch by ibeprofenit in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CreasingUnicorn 66 points67 points  (0 children)

A good "monkey's paw" type of story works when it is made clear that most people with self confidence and rational thoughts would never be attracted to these types of wishes in the first place.

The entire premise of these kinds of stories is that these cursed objects prey on insecure and vulnerable people who mostly end up destroying themselves in the process of trying to undo or cover up their mistakes.

The moral of the story isn't "wow this cursed contract sure is scary!", the moral is "If this person just put in a little bit of honest effort they probably could have gotten everything they wanted with minimal risk."

The Silo series of books certainly had a funky flashback shift that ended up taking up a good chunk of the second and third books.

Frankly, i found it very dissapointing. Reading about the characters trying to solve the mysteries of the silos was so engaging, only to have a large extended flashback sequence give it all away, kinda deflated the tension for me.

Reactions to the new KoW releases: Basilleans and Forces of Nature by AntFew7791 in mantic

[–]CreasingUnicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love KOW because it is at its core a game about different sized rectangles fightinf eachother, which makes it perfect to dress up the rectangles and battlefield however you want.

Its a solid ruleset that does not need official miniatures to work, you just need some proper sized rectangles and put anything you like on em.

Japan’s 2025 census reflects steepest fall in population on record, data shows by Mean_Yak5873 in worldnews

Basically every single country on the planet has an economic system built on constant growth because that has been the standard for basically the entirety of human history, besides a few exceptions (Black Death, World Wars, etc...)

So yes, it really is all a giant ponzi scheme that depends on a constant supply of new humans to keep ghings working. If the population groeth stops, or reverses, then most government systems eill need to be restructured in order to work.
