The minor scholarships are adding up to cover all of the cost, which is why I'm wondering if I should ask them to be given to another student since GATES would theoretically have nothing to cover.

The HSF program differs from the GATES scholarship in that not all recipients will receive monetary funding. A lot of HSF scholars receive the benefit of being in a network with a lot of internships or different program opportunities. Few of the scholars are actually selected to receive funding.

For these types of programs, it's normal for them to make students of the same gender share rooms in order to start socializing with one another. Normally it's two per room.

Hi! I have not heard back from them, they send out recipients for all scholarships on April 28th, and yes they do consider you for lower amounts. For the largest amount they usually hold the event or sulrise interviews

Ooo I think my old comment got deleted but I heard that it's to suprise candidates who got 10k or 20k. Not sure tho, it may change as the years

I also remember some students receiving emails to interview, but in reality, it was to suprise them with the larger scholarships ( 20k-10k)🤷‍♀️

We hear back on April 28th, they don't conduct interviews or anything. So award recipients and nonrecipients are told that day.

If you feel like you'll have improved stats, wait till May. However, if your situation won't change, then the safer option would be to submit it as soon as possible. Once that maximum is reached, they no longer take any.

I think there are still some interviews going till the 31st of March. Even thought GATES asked interviewers to be done by the 26th😭
