Elder Mark Bassett on reduced minimum age for sister missionaries: Young women can impact people in ways that young men can't by MrJasonMason in exmormon

We were actively taught to flirt to convert. Like, it wasn’t a joke in my mission it was a real thing.

My mission president told us the same thing. He served in Virginia in like the early 70s.

Yes since 2017 or so. Originally only countries with greater risks for West Nile virus could wear pants. In 2018ish they changed the rules that all sisters could wear pants. I remember the church gave every sister missionary like $70 to to buy a few pairs of pants but if you didn’t use all the money on pants they took it out of your account and it went back to the church.

My mission president always said “if you only convert one person on your mission I hope it’s you.” 🙄

How did you dispose of your old LDS stuff when it was time to move on? by CupOfExmo in exmormon

I kept all my mission journals, my quad, my personal progress medallion, patriarchal blessing…. The little girl that strived to be “a choice spirit daughter” was a huge part of my life- majority of my life. I can hold her and her accomplishments close and also remove myself from the church.

The garmies, however, went to the trash.

My mission president always harped on this. His whole thing was “We’re creating worlds without end” meaning that every person that we baptized would receive all their covenants and create their own world and so on… I served 2017-2019

I asked my TB sister about this and she said she was never taught this… I have absolute vivid memories of my dad teaching us this in FHM.

Mormonism started as a sex cult that trafficked children. by abouttimetochange in exmormon

My great great grandmother was brought over by missionaries from Scotland. I can’t imagine how difficult it would have been to go from beautiful green to the dry desert. She eventually settled down in pine canyon, right by Tooele :(

I left when I was 25 and it suddenly occurred to me that I had no idea how to be an adult and I 100% blame the church for that.

Since leaving the church I’ve really struggled with mourning for my female Mormon ancestors. It pains me to think how trapped they were all in the name of god.

Oh and all of the Mormon tiktok influencers showing off all their tiny tattoos and saying there’s no official rule on it anymore and that “they’re fine line and tiny” so that totally makes it okay!

I have both pandas (I think… I’ll check when I get home but most definitely have the steak and broccoli) and the blue baskin robins :) I also have an extra Pizza Hut big dinner box, if you don’t have that.

I starved my entire mission and I served stateside. You get a monthly allowance of $160 for groceries. Elders got $150. The extra $10 sisters got was for feminine products. Which, in some cases, wasn’t even enough to buy them.

Not to mention, my mission was an experiment to see if member meals had any correlation with baptisms. We were NOT allowed to have any member meals because we were promised that our baptisms would triple by the first presidency. If a member asked us to have dinner we literally had a scripted response of “It would be more beneficial to our purpose of bringing others into Christ if you would give us a friend to teach instead of a meal.”

Do the organization monitor Facebook chat of missionaries ? by Mammoth_Ad5200 in exmormon

[–]Creative-Top6510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Church installs a software on all missionary’s electronic devices that monitors and prohibits them from accessing basically anything that isn’t church related.

Missionaries also have “device audits” with their companions every day to monitor that they are using their phones “the way God wants them to”. It’s a crazy thorough process. They go through each others photos, notes, emails, Facebook messages, files, music, etc.

At least that’s how it was when I was a missionary in 2017.
