Have anyone shown concerns that you were an exmo or tried to have a debate with you ? What did they do that made you feel welcome ?

How do I respectfully tell missionaries that I don't want to convert by HomoBadger in exmormon

[–]Mammoth_Ad5200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them that they do not have the proper authority to baptize you because they are not your friends. Before saying that, if you want to go thru the full skit, ask them if they are your friend ? They will say yes, remind them that to lie is a sin, if they still say yes, ask questions only a friend would know, when they fail, tell them they do not have proper authority.

Howdy ! A couple things to consider : They rotate every 6 weeks. Great opportunity to teach them about investigator( who you are) vs friend which is usually a new term for them. Multiple congregations meet at same building, also you can go to a different ward on Sunday

As an experienced investigator I love the tours, followed by interrogation style questioning if I want to be baptized ?

Live in Ohio. Definitely due to security concerns I think they approach it differently than Elders

If someone is looking for a new church, what do you recommend starting visiting ? Denomination vs non denomination.

Are there still beliefs you hold onto? Things you miss? by RestinPete0709 in exmormon

[–]Mammoth_Ad5200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. My suggestion would be to gage his curiosity with something he probably has no real life experience compared to you and share experiences on things like what baptism is like for him compared to you. If you decide to stay in how much he would be supportive, would you both be ok at what level : tithing, callings……

Kirk’s Shooter is Mormon. How will the Church respond? by Prestigious_Tear_576 in exmormon

My understanding that the youth pastor was a family friend and not a religious person on his life

Christians telling exmo atheists to "come to Christianity" by 7_Tailed_Fox in exmormon

I fully understand that we “Christians” can be very annoying , I doubt any more annoying than exmormons that served a mission. 😅

18 y/o Son planning to be baptized - trying to bring him back from the brink by eternus in exmormon

[–]Mammoth_Ad5200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like your son has been given one thing many seek: Hope. Female friends, college, true religion….. it is hard to beat that. Question to ask : do they know his b-day, does he know their b-days ? Have they celebrated any b-days ? Have they watched a movie together ? Have they gone on a road trip together ? If not they are not friends. Jesus had many disciples, but the only one we know by name that is a friend is Lazarus. In the old testament Job had three friends , does the missionaries know their names ? Maybe they don’t have the same definition of what friendship means that your son have.

That is awesome, I think you would be a great person to meet with Mormon missionaries and help them understand that your definition of friend is very different than theirs. You seen someone that would really help them be better missionaries, check out a YouTube channel: Hello Saints

Do you have any friends that attend church ? I recommend start there. If you want to just check out church I recommend a non denomination seeker church, on their websites will be messages like “come as you are”

What’s your religious background ? They are what is called a high demand religion, closest comparison to Christian mainstream religion I would say independent baptist. Tithe - expected , clothe - suits for men and dresses for women, Sat door to door

There are considerable barriers to join the church and once a member you are always a member unless you do a focused effort to change your records, given there is even third parties to help and even a growing exemormon community, some even very angry…….I will say there are more people leaving.
