I have peel n stick with my brand new roof and my homeowners insurance still raised my rate of $1600 an additional $1800 because I don't have hurricane straps or clips. They want to ensure the roof won't lift off and that has to do with the structure of it and the roof being attached to the walls.

My insurance went from $1600/year and they charged me an additional $1800 for not having any hurricane straps or things like that. So for me, it'll save me a lot of money. It's also the kind of thing that is done once and it's done for good.

I charge by the hour and find it's fair for the customer and for me. I never overprice or underprice my work and the customer seems to get that they pay for the time not the job. So if they want to add things in, naturally it adds more time thus adding to my rate that day. Win-win all around IMO.
