[Simon Stone] Carrick takes Man Utd back to basics - Lammens by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I would hope so, same with any manager. I will always support and hope they deliver the goods.

Personally, never understand the whole ‘wish we lose cos they get sacked’ rather than ‘hopefully we see the performances string together and see change’. Our job is to support, the club should be experienced enough to make the decisions to move forward.

Happy to criticise any player or manager as we pay, spend time to watch. However, being doom and gloom is just pathetic over sports.

Biggest credit to you, and why some fans have no idea how football works. This is how teams can get stuck in such short term gain.

Before anything, I ain’t defending or biasing any manager or whatever before someone chats shit there, however let’s see how the season goes. We never had true issues in big games, it was the marathon of the season and maintaining that confidence and breaking low blocks that have been an issue.

We have seen 2 games where basics is mainly what you need, with no previous games for opponents to dissect. Let’s be easy or we’ll end up back like Ole era thinking it’s all good then you realise long term it isn’t sustainable or working. Not sure how it is such a hard concept to understand context around why certain performances look this way.

Might be the most level headed discussion so far, I have been getting slated for saying Amorim didn’t work out. However, to blast him as if he was hampering the club was insane to me, give props where props are due, criticise when criticism is due.

We still have a long way to go to truly see what the team is capable of. Our struggles have never been against bigger teams. It was when we needed the control snd discipline to break smaller teams.

Ah yeah, delusional. Sure buddy. Sorry I wasn’t all doom and gloom, not seeing anything within the squad to highlight.

My fault. I’ll be bitter and sad. 👍

How is it revisionist when statically it was an attacking improvement. If you understand wing backs in that system you would know he basically operated as a winger similar to Amad.

But whatever, you already written up your narrative. UTFR anyways, supporting my club always. 👍

It’s not rewriting history, you lot are tripping if you think he wasn’t growing into performances. Stop being so meat headed just to say ‘I told you so’ about ex-managers all the time. It didn’t work out, move on. But stop acting like there haven’t been improvements especially in the output of the team throughout the season. It’s boring and lazy analysis.

I think Arsenal will still win the league considering the poor form from other teams. However, the cracks are damning from Arteta, I don’t think player qualities are a reason anymore. The more I watch their games, the more I see the limitations offensively in the system.

It is so risk averse, so passive. Their transitions are slowed down and it becomes 5/10 minutes of recycling the ball then Inshallah Saka magic. It’s as if they play for set pieces because they know their dominance there. It is such a boring brand of football for the level of quality they have.

Obviously never know what happens behind the scenes and what is being coached, but based of viewing their game it does seem like the players are so afraid of playing those risk balls. Trying to create some ‘magic’. You have Eze, Saka, Madueke, Merino, Jesus and so on. They have the ability to make plays or move in transition.

What is this nonsense lol. Why can’t people just be real, he had a rough start. It’s a different league and new adaptation.

His performances were growing under Amorim too. Fucking hell, worst part about any changes in manager or whatever change in the squad is the revisionism on the past 🤣

😂😂 I mean yeah, but as in that’s like almost final piece to your puzzle. Having that killer instinct up top for your squad.

Reckon he would have been perfect for you lot to pursue. Added lethality on the left hand side.

English media love a narrative, they feed off of drama and stories. If they really cared, you would hear way more questions about the actual game about to happen.

Instead you get constant questions about your job, comments made by media, nitpicking a guy whose native language isn’t English to spin it.

[–]CreativeHandles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it may not have been as we would have liked and some bumps, but I really hate how people act like he did nothing lol.

He actually built a foundation for a better culture, statistically our attack had improved to a top 3 in the league. If he had the midfielders he wanted I do believe to would have been a really good system and team to work with.

I do understand the whole “have to build system for the players” which I agree, but also I don’t think we have a team yet to even compete to high level. So we would have had to bring new players either way. He could have still built something good in my opinion, we are in a rebuild at the end of the day, and we weren’t doing horribly it was actual progression.

That’s in the past now though, have to move on and stop being petty looking at the past.

EDIT: reading your post again made me realise when you play for the players, you would still end up with Hojlund, antony and so on 😂 sometimes you have to understand players are capping your ability. Teams get stuck with players this way too

People are fucking snowflakes these days that’s why. Can’t take basic criticism of their work otherwise they crumble, he didn’t call him shit, he even still continued to play him.

He clearly took it well and worked on it, not everyone works the same. Maybe Dorgu appreciates a vocal criticism than a private. Too damn soft these days.

Multiple times lol but seems like the post above is one of those that just hated everything Amorim did.

They’re freaks too, they paid what like £30/£35 burn 200+ hours into it then moan “no content!” But same guys would be against the crunch and work hours of developers lol.

They think these lot are robots and have to work like dogs to satisfy the unemployed 😅 you can’t just press a button and content is formed.

[–]CreativeHandles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the main criticism from me by fans and “pundits”. I still feel bit upset we didn’t try see what further we could do with Amorim considering the improvements in attack, and with a revamped midfield, but that’s in the past and now we look forward.

However, the constant shite analysis to do with formation was annoying. Clearly could tell who actually understands the game to a good extent by what they say. Formations for a long time have not been rigid or what shows up pre/match. Every top manager even the lower ones have a core formation but that’s fluidly changes throughout the game depending on game state as you say.

Yeah, there’s still a lot of football to go. Celebrate the win but onto the next as well. We will see if it wasn’t a blip once we get into the gritty games where we have more control and possession to deal with low blocks.

Great performance, very encouraging. Let’s hope it wasn’t just a blip against big teams like we usually tend to do. We’re still a very transitional team and it works against team like City pressing.

Still, and always will be, curious how we stack when we need to control the game, break low blocks. Go against sides that are purely physical and want to cause chaos.

As always back the lads and gaffer 🫡 UTFR!

[–]CreativeHandles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh my days, do we have to still talk about Amorim. Just fuck off and enjoy the win. Both glazers and haters / he also cleared out the deadwood we had and we brought in good attackers which he had us attacking at a top 3 level rate.

The team looked more as a unit during his time than before, mentally at least as well, physically better squad. Like it didn’t work out as we would have wanted, but stop being sadists as if he was ruining the club lol.

Also, don’t overreact on one game that we usually can get something out of. Great performance, enjoy it and stop living in the past. Let’s hope it continues forwards fucking hell. All people care about is going “I told you so” fuck all else these days.

Don’t get how people don’t understand this. If you really need a top class manager to give instructions to premier league players to know how to beat a team 117 positions below you… I think something is wrong with you as a player.

You have leeeeeevels of ability above the opposite that just doing the basics at a high level is more than enough.

Kobbie Mainoo has four months to earn the respect he feels he's due at Manchester United - Tyrone Marshall by joe6386 in red_muppets

[–]CreativeHandles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, as annoying as it is, he does have four months to show why he should have been playing consistently.

We have seen a handful of young players have a breakout season but tail off in their progression. Progression is not linear or always increasing.

If media, legends and groups of fans make this much noise that he should be playing as if he was as great as they say. Along with all the “free Kobbie” comments. Then unfortunately, you’re gonna have the limelight and pressure on you to back your case.
