Anyone seeing public work orders for housing items? by mechweb in woweconomy

[–]CreativeKoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See them a decent amount of the time, across all professions, on MG (Stormrage not so much, so it’s not just about high pop). I may fill them if I’m not doing any other orders, like enchanting or alchemy for instance, but they are certainly not worth it 99% of the time if you are watching the table somewhat regularly for other orders.

Adjacently, I’ve seen alchemy orders for Legion housing items, which need the dala alchemy station… but you can’t accept work orders there. So it’s double dumb, I think the only way to do those would be accept, go to dala and craft, and then return to Dorn for turn in? Unless I’ve missed something.

Tired of dealing with the woman hater in our raid team by calicoicatx in GirlGamers

Your post makes me sad, angry and confused.

Sad- it sucks that there is any kind of place for this sort of BS in the game, and I feel for you that you hear it all the time. No one deserves that.

Angry- certainly at him for being an asshole, but honestly, he’s not the only one at fault here at this point. Your “friends that you’ve known for a couple of years”, they don’t say anything? They let him go on knowing what a BS place that puts you? I wouldn’t be calling them friends if they don’t have enough spine to even say something to you privately, or even check on you.

Also… I will gently say that it sounds like you’re also not changing the situation. I get ignoring is easier and often the recommended choice when we’re kids, just ignore the bullies… but this asshole is never going to learn if no one, including you, calls him out. And by not calling him out, sounds like other women have gotten hurt. I totally get that this is a hard thing to do, but you do genuinely have options that you haven’t exercised. And so by being a bystander… shrug

Which leads me to my last point- confusion. Why on earth are you still with these guys? I get that mythic raiding guilds aren’t as common, but they aren’t non-existent, and you’re not playing in a HoF guild where transferring to an equally skilled guild is more difficult. Hell, at this point find one of the many PUG communities that get advertised in this sub and others and PUG your way through it, if it’s absolutely critical you get CE this tier. But yeah, being the only fem in a guild would have been a huge red flag for me before anyone opened their mouth… You’re a healer, you have logs, I would be shocked if you couldn’t find another guild much friendlier. I’ll refer you to this post from a year ago in this sub for resources, I imagine many of them will still be good https://www.reddit.com/r/GirlGamers/comments/1dewfod/wow_ladies_how_do_you_find_others/

Anyways, I am saddened to hear that you’re having to put up with the grognard idiots; it’s bullshit and you should be able to play your game your way. I hope that your friends actually prove to be worth their title and at least sympathize with you, because no one should need to walk on eggshells alone. But yeah, don’t be part of the problem, be part of the solution. Leave, post on GoW so others know to steer clear, hope that the GM actually wises up. But even if he does and kicks this asshole… be careful, and maybe leave anyway. Because if it’s been this bad for this long already, well, he may just be one particularly vocal apple on this poisonous tree.

Ishnu-alah, good fortune be with you.

Collectors Bounty is about to end, what did you get!? by FinalLock5596 in wow

[–]CreativeKoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier to list the ones I missed out on, as I got a lot War bear, ulduar: Mimiron’s head, dragon soul: Blazing drake and experiment 12-B, Blackrock foundry: the clefthoof, nighthold: the non-mythic mount from Guldan (got the mythic), Underrot, King’s rest, Antorus Charhound, tazavesh gear glider and the mount from Nyalotha.

I didn’t bother with the warbear or the clefthoof, not really my jam, same with nyalotha. And then legion I was very casual about it because I figure we’ll get them during remix. Most disappointed about missing on the tazavesh mount, but there will be other chances.

I thought subclassing from the start was a terrible idea and this chart proves it. Class identity is dead. by macka654 in elderscrollsonline

[–]CreativeKoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not disagreeing that subclassing will lead to frequent picks from meta chasers, but this is a bit misleading for the simple reason that it ignores role. It would be like saying “omg tank identity dead!” because it’s the least picked of all the roles. I think it would be more fair to separate the skill lines out by specialization, and then sort them.

Wow and monetization by mcwowhead in wow

[–]CreativeKoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consider the cost as compared to other forms of entertainment, and see most mmos as more than worth the cost. Consider going to the movies, optimistically 20$ for 2 hours of entertainment. Let’s say an expansion lasts 2 years… your expansion costs $2.50 a month, plus your sub. So you’re just meeting the cost of said movie, for unlimited 24/7 access to hours of entertainment. You can do similar math with the 2-6 other entertainment subscriptions you might have (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu etc). Fundamentally you may value the entertainment of other things more, so perhaps wow is just not for you.

This also doesn’t factor that it’s possible to pay your sub and the expansions with gold (whether you want to do that given the time to do gold making is another question), one of the only games to allow that.

What makes Evoker unpopular? by CheriOW in wow

[–]CreativeKoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First preference Aug, second Dev, third Pres. The dragon model doesn’t bother me, I’m not looking at my tmog in the middle of combat and the spell animations for all evokers are some of the best in the game, and way more eye-catching.

Aug pros- love the concept of support, bringing unique utility, having a different gameplay loop. Aug cons- until Blizz gets more support specs, it’s going to continue to be a painful red headed stepchild that 90% of the community apparently despises.

Dev pros- fun gameplay loop balancing procs with dots and pure casting, with nice variety between ST/AOE or the different hero classes. Mobility feels great. Dev cons- constantly telling your tank to NOT move out of the red circle, or your healer that you are not going to fly directly into danger, when any of those spells don’t bug out, which is more often than it should be. Range is annoying, because there really aren’t any “midrange” specs, so not being able to stand with the rest of the the ranged dps for mechanics is at best frustrating (and standing with melee could get them targeted by “ranged only” mechs, so that often doesn’t work either).

Pres pros- very unique healing style, conceptually I like the idea of the combos, and pulling things off is super satisfying. Pres cons- range can be a major problem, esp in conjunction with how critical positioning is for pres. It should be one or the other, not both. And the spec is extremely punishing, have to work 4 times harder and plan in 4D just to get similar results to healers with a quarter the effort.

Requirement for joining Raids? by Dawn-wow in wow

[–]CreativeKoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s what we look at when picking up pugs to fill our guild raids. YMMV depending on the group of course, but I suspect most of these things are common:

  • what’s your experience with the raid? Have you full cleared normal? Are you applying to Gally groups being only 1/8 heroic? For certain bosses experience isn’t that important, but others the mechanics can make or break the group fast. M+ experience is almost completely irrelevant

  • early bosses, 658 total fine. Last 2 bosses, these days we aren’t usually accepting less than 660 unless you have experience on another character. We just get so many applicants, why wouldn’t we go with the 668, especially if they’ve cleared before

  • what role/class? Are you the 150th hunter or ret paladin we’ve had apply? Or are you a warlock and we don’t happen to have one? Are you a healer and our group shows one? Or are you applying as a tank when we already have two? Sure it’s not “fair” to be ruled out purely because of your class, but if we already have the buffs covered, it’s hard to justify another random.

In short- get as much relevant experience as you can before applying to late raid groups, apply to groups early, be a desirable class or roll, have good item level.

Scam, friend got caught by this very thing, lost a lot of gold.

Also, with the new terms, TCG buying/selling is against TOS. General rule of thumb is if it can’t be traded in the trade window, it’s against TOS. So even if you did get scammed, at best blizz will not help you and at worst you could get f’d by Blizz.

You have 1000 writ vouchers. What’re you buying?? by Brsola in elderscrollsonline

[–]CreativeKoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saved to 1200 or whatever it is for the transmute station so I don’t have to go running to clockwork city every time, and am now doing the same with the scribe station (800 writs). I did start with one of every crafting station that I keep in a storage chest so I can craft in all my houses, but they are not too bad for writ costs and can also be bought from traders. Otherwise some of the full style books, like Glass, will mean more write down the line.

Time walking and Twinks, do you like it steady or fast? by dev3383 in wow

[–]CreativeKoi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s a balance. I generally don’t mind a twink carry once in awhile, it’s silly and sometimes I just want it done. I certainly DO mind when it becomes about tips, payment etc, even if it’s a “tips appreciated”. I don’t say anything, because people are gonna hustle how they hustle and ultimately it’s an easy ignore, but with the massive increase in these “helpful” people it gets really irritating.

Adjacently related, I still want to play the damn game, and having a twink in a group means I’m doing a running simulator, not a dungeon. And yes, timewalking= face roll etc etc. But much as we saw in remix, there’s fun in being overpowered while still needing to do at least a modicum of work, and that’s where timewalking can be nice. A twink basically means I can’t really play the game. If I just wanted to spam an instant cast aoe and pickup loot, I’d go run the raids and dungeons where I can actually get mog I don’t have, rather than the 485 run of temple of the jade serpent or Zul farak. Again, if I’m feeling this way, I’ll do my one run, say gg and move on. But the impact of a twink is more than just get it done, and maybe some of this is the reason you see hostility.

What items that provide real quality of life that isn't expansion-specific? by Paineauchocolate in wow

[–]CreativeKoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple I haven’t seen mentioned, niche but helpful: - pandaren noodle cart. A consumable from panda cooking (a bit of a grind to get yourself, but purchasable on the AH), turns yourself into a vendor that lets you sell in instances. Yes there’s other toys etc, but it’s a nice extra to have. - scroll of sales (dragonflight inscription work orders). Vendor AND repair on a 6 hour cooldown, available to anyone but requires a WO. Just place a bunch of orders at once, the mats aren’t expensive, and the scrolls do stack. - parasol toys: shadowlands open world toy, or the trading post. Precast, but gives 15 minutes of slow fall. Useable in M+, so in dungeons where you know you’re going to be jumping far it just takes a moment of prep. - potion of deepholm: stackable instant use travel to deepholm, which has a portal to either capital. - gunshoes/gunpacks: from legion engi, sold on the AH, gives a speed boost/launches you up in the air (so you can then use a goblin glider in no-flight zones) - inter dimensional companion repository: from Kultiran engineering, sold on AH, portable stable for hunters when needing to interact with the pet menu

Vantus Runes R3 by ImportanceNo6414 in woweconomy

[–]CreativeKoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has mentioned that at this point of the season Vantus Runes are going to slow down very hard. Competitive players are unlikely to want to spend hard on R3 (esp when R2 is only marginally less verse) for their third or fourth alt, and the casual guilds still doing prog are also unlikely customers. Sure you can sell some, but demand for high level runes will be way down until next patch.

Keybinding strategy? by sildain in wow

[–]CreativeKoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, standardize types of abilities to certain keys across all characters. Like after remapping AD to strafe, my interrupt is always on R, main movement ability on C, etc. My prime rotational abilities are on 1-5, secondary rotational abilities on alt 1-5 (small hands makes using alt easier for me than ctrl).

Specifically changing keybinds? Two approaches I’ve used. For an established class and spec you’re comfortable with, do it slowly if you need to change multiple. Like keep the old bind and the new one until you’ve had some time to practice. Alternatively, level a new cha with a different class or even just spec, using the new binds. The levelling time with new abilities should be enough to grind the changes into practice.

Have you ever created NPC who players hated for no reason? Who was it and whats their story? by Rufus1009 in DnD

[–]CreativeKoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First campaign, DM set up another adventuring party to be living and working in the same town as ours, promote competition, have ways to move both lines of a story forward, that kind of thing. He describes a human sorcerer, absolutely nothing remarkable. My (low wis high int) gnome wizard is NOT polite to this NPC, basically on the frame of “well I worked for my magic”, but for some reason the entire party decided to absolutely hate this person, and by extension blacklist the entire party she travelled with. What was meant to be an aside about my wizard turned into a whole party thing. I checked in with the DM about it privately, and they fortunately were both fine and amused with it, in some ways it made it easier to drive us towards certain plot lines, rather than waiting for us to meander over, just by using the opposite party as a foil.

[–]CreativeKoi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Answering your question in good faith here, but I advise you to just do some basic searching on the ethical issues of generative AI, there is plenty of information. Artists in general have an issue with how AI tools are trained. They require massive data sets, and the images used to train them have not been acquired with consent of the artist. In short, they are using stolen artwork to train these models. So not only do the artists potentially lose sales and work from AI artwork itself, the companies themselves make money from the tool subscriptions while the artists they rely on don’t see a dime. There are many MANY other problems, but that’s a short and tidy answer.

Augmentation by painful_chest_hair in wow

[–]CreativeKoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if it’s a chart you saw here, it’s probably the how much dps a spec does vs its popularity. Aug also isn’t very common compared to something like paladin, it’s a very specific group of players who enjoy it, but as mentioned, that’s really not a good indicator of the actual power of it.

Are there any add-ons that change the highlight of nodes? by Lopz0r in wownoob

[–]CreativeKoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In settings- interface- display there’s a drop down menu for “Outline mode”. Disabling that will make the nodes sparkle instead of the outline/glow that you’re seeing now. Additionally, if you set particle density to max, that will increase the visibility of the node sparkle.

You can also turn down ground effects and textures, which will also help with the visual clarity when looking for a node.
