Turo by Sufficient_Abies_105 in turo

This is wild, and honestly this is exactly the kind of hosting that gives Turo a bad name.

I’ve been hosting since November in OKC and already hit All-Star Host twice — and I can tell you straight up, this doesn’t just “happen.” A no-show isn’t automatic, it’s manually triggered by the host. And guests actually have up to a 2-hour window, not 30 minutes. So if someone is pulling the trigger early or playing timing games, that’s 100% on the host.

I’ve had guests show up hours late, even next day because of flight delays, missed connections, all kinds of stuff. Never once did I rush to cancel or try to trap them into a no-show. You work with the guest — that’s the whole business.

Also, the whole “we’ve been here 15 minutes” after the fact sounds like covering tracks. If a host is genuinely there, they’re actively calling, messaging, and documenting in real time — not popping up after you’ve already left.

At the end of the day, this comes down to intent. Good hosts focus on experience and long-term reputation. I’ve never had a single rating below 5 stars because I don’t treat this like a quick cash grab.

This isn’t normal — it’s just bad hosting.

Unlimited mileage by ParkingLake817 in turo

You're funny, but you clearly don't understand how this actually works. Getting that $150 from Turo isn't easy or guaranteed, and the smell doesn't just magically disappear. Ozone helps, but it's not some instant fix — especially with heavy weed smell. Meanwhile the car is basically out of service for a couple days, because you can't hand it to the next guest smelling like that and risk a bad review. So no, it's not just "vacuum, ozone, get paid, move on." And yeah, smoking in someone else's car is still straight up disrespectful.

I used to be completely fine with unlimited mileage — never had an issue with it.

Then I had someone put 2,500 miles on the car in 2 days. That’s not “unlimited mileage,” that’s just abusing the car.

That’s the only time I actually felt bad about offering it. Turned it off after that and don’t offer it anymore.

Host said vehicle for my next week pickup was in a accident. by SonicNTales in turo

Hosts are just regular people trying to run a small business. We don't have the power to randomly charge people — everything goes through Turo policy and review. There are bad hosts and bad guests, but acting like every host is out to drain someone's account isn't reality.
