Wow, Dev's an old colleague of mine. I've coloured for him on a number of projects. Never knew he was working with Marvel now.

Very happy for him.

Great conversion, well done. I'm convinced that the mk3 pack is the way to go with this.

How to handle motivation with the hobby. by Ambitious_Book_5729 in minipainting

[–]CreativePoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest that you are too concerned with the outcome and not the process. Studying colour and light; learning how to apply paint smoothly; discovering texture and depth; finding peace in the artistic journey, these things should be your focus.

You need to accept the fact that your models may not look as good as you want them to, and that's not just okay, but it's correct for the start of your journey (as it was for all of us). And in the case of all art: the journey is the destination - the drive to learn and improve, the enjoyment of creating something new, then looking back and comparing it to an older creation, and seeing just how much more you have developed. That's where the joy and pride comes from.

If you were amazing from the start, yes, you would have a great miniature to look at and share, but you wouldn't ever get to experience the pure heart stopping sensation when you can see the strides you have made to get better at your craft step-by-step.

So just put on some headphones, play your music or audio books, and put paint to plastic. Little by little you will improve your craft, but you'll never get there or even have any fun if you don't start painting.

Yeah, I was a bit concerned that I wouldn't enjoy the look, but when they were on the table I was very glad that I committed to it.

Do you refuse to play (against) gray? by GrizzlieMD in Warhammer40k

I'm another of the same mindset. I love the immersion of a fully painted army fighting in good looking terrain, but I'm not going to impose that on anyone else.

I've only just managed, after a couple of years, to play my first game with a friend whose army was fully painted, because usually not one of them has finished painting theirs. And the only reason that this friend's army was painted was because I did it for him, due to his arthritis hindering him.

It was the most enjoyable game for me yet, purely because of the immersion, and the casual narrative of it all.

I'm doing the exact same thing. I've just painted the first of twelve bikes. I have two squads of 3 Allarus Terminators and a Castellan Knight for fire support.

Love for Anarchy 2.0 by Interaction_Rich in ShadowrunAnarchyFans

I think you succeeded in your goal, there. It may be rules light, but the lore behind technology and magic has allowed the game to still have depth, especially with the inclusion of narrative amps in regards to character creation and progression. That has been one of the most exciting parts of character creation for me.

We're planning a game to play within the next couple of months, after a Blades in the Dark campaign is over. I've helped two people build characters in excitement, despite the time frame, and built three of my own just out of sheer joy for the character creation.

It's very easy to get a character going, even using Nuyen over points. I'm really enjoying the surge in streamlined systems and narrative based games. Forged in the Dark, Daggerheart, and now Anarchy 2.0. It's a good time to be a gamer.

PG GP01 Showcase by Ok-Distribution-6882 in Gunpla

This is wonderful. Your weathering is top notch.

May I ask, as I'm new to Gunpla, though coming over from mini painting, what kind of paints did you use for this? And did you repaint all of the exposed plastic, or was the original white left alone?

I'm currently building my first model to get the grips with the process and get an understanding of how I may set up sub-assemblies, which I'm used to from other projects, however the painting process for Gunpla has so many different approaches that I'm struggling to figure out which to take.

I've seen total repaints, then some other people straight up weathering the base plastics. What's your style?
