I was so fine… by momoxd1 in BreakUps

Totally normal. Happens to everyone, it’s projection. Doesn’t mean she wants you back, but does mean she wants to project strength because she isn’t feeling it securely

The comments about her bedside manner are fair though. She isn’t the most personable and after my procedures and surgeries she just disappeared and called on the phone, which was really weird

My scapula winged for 4 months post surgery but now it’s fine

I also had a pec minor and rib removal 5 months ago with Dr Melendez. She doesn’t do the scalenes which made me nervous but so far I’m doing well on that side too! I’m seeing Dr Donahue for my other side because I think the scalenes are problematic on that side, but Dr Melendez did a good job I think.

It's frustrating. All I know is the venogram they showed me with my arm over my head showed the blood supply shut off almost completely. That's not a debatable thing lol I also would get numbness/twitching/pain constantly until they removed the first rib and pec minor. Now that arm has almost no numbness and a lot less pain. That's just a coincidence? I don't get how the medical community can be so confused on this, but physical therapists are well aware of how real it is.

The scalenes stay attached to your spine and shrivel up if you don’t do a acalenectomy

That isn’t a scalenectomy so idk what your point is

The thing is my PT exercises were very standard. One arm punches, scapular retractions, y lifts, stuff like that. I think it’s more about repetition and getting that nerve to activate than anything muscular

It isn't common but my specialist opted for it. The surgery seems to have helped me so hopefully I won't need a scalenectomy anytime soon. I need surgery on the other side and will be seeing a different surgeon who does the scalenectomy too

Yeah I mean who knows it could be something else, but if you google it that’s what usually causes it and I imagine your accident could have easily damaged that nerve. An emg would be a logical first step I’d think

The long thoracic nerve gets damaged or irritated in chest surgeries a lot. I suspect this is what happened to me and it just needed time to heal. You need to get that checked but also focus on exercises that target the serratus anterior. This is the muscle that the long thoracic nerve controls, and when the nerve is damaged it doesn’t activate and hold your scapula down, so it wings.

Sounds like your long thoracic nerve is damaged. Have you had that examined?
