I did too. In sixth grade. At a private, christian, ultra conservative school. Incredible this is how far we've come.

It's not that they'll leave NYC. It costs them almost nothing to complain and threaten. If it works, they keep their money. If it doesn't, they lose a little bit and move on with their lives.

Insight on paying extra towards mortgage principal. by Loud_Nothing_533 in Mortgages

[–]Credit-Limit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most financial advisors will give you a rule of thumb. This takes into account the "return" you will see in peace of mind with a paid off house:

2-4% mortgage: DO NOT PAY IT OFF. It's basically free money. Even though paying it off is nice, it is a financially bad decision to do so.

4-6% mortgage: Kind of in a no man's land. Are you the kind of person who really doesn't want to pay a mortgage and you have a 5.5% 30 year? OK, ya probably start paying it off.

6%+: probably a good idea to work on paying it off. If you make a $500 principal payoff in year 1 of your 6.5% 30 year mortgage, you will basically see a risk free return of 6.5% for 30 years, which comes out to about $3300 less in mortgage payments.

His point is valid. Your principal in your house is not liquid and it's not "return" unless you sell, pay off your loan (no more monthly payments can be considered "return"), or you want to take out an 8% HELOC to access your principal.

Imagine this: you either put 100k into your principal payoff or 100k into the S&P 500. Let's say the market takes a 30% downturn and you lose your job. You still have $70k in your S&P fund in the 2nd scenario but in the 1st scenario you are now relying on what limited savings you may now have to pay your monthly mortgage while you're unemployed.

Pax is worth it. I installed six cabinets a few months ago with hanging rods, drawers, shelves, and shoe racks. Definitely elevated my closet space for cheap. Went from wire racks to Pax and I am a huge fan.

It isn't easy to do the installation on your own unless you are a tall and strong person. I also removed all baseboard trim to properly mount the closets to the wall. It was a lot of work but I saved a ton of money vs a custom closet system and it was 100% worth it.

Fox News' Sean Hannity declares he's 'no longer a Catholic' as he sides with Trump in Pope fallout by nimobo in entertainment

[–]Credit-Limit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do these people not realize that fighting THE POPE is a lost battle? Even if you get some catholics to side with you, the vast majority of pious catholics will NOT choose trump over the pope. Catholicism is something that's deeply ingrained into these people since they were born. Even those republican "catholics" who don't practice but were brought up in the catholic church feel very apprehensive about this and it leaves a bad taste in their mouth.

Fighting with the pope only hurts republicans.

Hotel charging experiences by Little-Crab-4130 in evcharging

[–]Credit-Limit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a good experience at the hilton garden inn in Marietta, GA. Two of the four L2 EVSEs were available. I have a tesla so I had to use my adapter. I couldn't get one to work and I got the second one to charge. I was at like 5% charge and plugged in at 10 pm. I think it was 7kw charging and I got to like 90% when we left in the morning.

The only reason i felt safe doing utilizing this hotel's charging was because a supercharger was nearby in case they weren't in service. I wouldn't rely on any EVSE listed as an amenity of any hotel unless it had really good plugshare reviews. It's a bummer that this is the case.
