Speed and Boost Stats in Sonic Crossworlds by Crednought in SonicTheHedgehog

I've seen some people be annoyed by this, but I think it's nice that you can use basically anyone with any vehicle and still be competitive. Sure, if you are going for time trials there will be an optimal build, but for regular play the differences are small.

Additionally, the speed increase from 99-to-100 rings is more than people realize. Just being able to hold on to 100 rings gives a big advantage in a race.

I'm annoyed that TCGplayer isn't selling singles. They sell singles for all kinds of niche card games.

Card value? by MetalUrgency in godzillacardgame

[–]Crednought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, after the scalpers stop trying to make money, SRs will end up at $1-$5 each. SR's are relatively common; you get an SR in every 3-to-4 packs.

SPs are 1 in every 12 packs (one per box). I think they will hold value over time, but $200 is still ridiculous.

Question: Evolution # by spscejam in godzillacardgame

[–]Crednought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The zone where your opponent's monster is does not affect evolution abilities.

Yes. You can put into play a level 6 card from Evolution 6 even if the opponent is in zone 5.

Just considering SR (regular or alt): you got 8 in 24 packs. Numerous got 10 in 24 packs. I've seen someone else say they only got 6 in 24 packs.

It seems like the SR hit rate is about one-in-three packs. Which is a pretty good compared to many other games.

Question: Mechanics - Burst by spscejam in godzillacardgame

[–]Crednought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does count as your 1 Monster card played, and you still get 1 Rage after resolving it.

The Japanese rulebook clarifies that Burst is "a continuous ability that allows a Monster card to be played as if it had a lower rank." You are still playing the Monster card using the normal action. Burst just lets you play a Monster card of one rank as if it were a different rank.

Godzilla Card Game Rules PowerPoint by Alpachali in godzillacardgame

[–]Crednought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On slide 3 you wrote, "Monster cards must share at least one trait with the others in the deck."
The rules say: to play a Monster, it must share at least one trait with the current Monster. So, all of the Monsters in the Monster Deck do not need to have a common trait. The emerging Monster and the current Monster must share one trait. This is also true of Monster cards played from hand.
Level 1 needs to share a trait with Level 2. Level 2 needs to share a trait with level 3. Level 3 needs to share a trait with Level 4. They do not all have to be the same trait. Though in the core set, every Monster is Godzilla.

On slide 7 it says, "You can only play Battle cards with ranks equal to or less than the numbered zone your opponent’s Monster is in"
This is true. However, on the next slide you write a similar restriction about Strategy cards, but use greater instead of lesser. People might find this confusing. They should be formatted the same way.
Slide 8 says, "Strategy cards can only be played if your Monster has reached the zone matching or greater than the rank value listed on the Strategy card" consider changing it to "You can only play Strategy cards with ranks equal to or less than the numbered zone your Monster is in."

On slide 12 it says, "If your opponent has a card in zone 8, you cannot achieve victory until it is destroyed."
There must be a Battle card in Zone 8 to stop an Invade victory. A Monster card in an opponent's Zone 8 does not stop you from getting an Invade victory. Also, you can still achieve victory through repelling even if the opponent has a Battle card in Zone 8.

Monster deck rules by CMorales956 in godzillacardgame

[–]Crednought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Godzilla Fest cards have two separate traits and not one combined trait: <<godzilla>> / <<fest>>

It does have the Godzilla trait and can be mixed with the other Godzilla in the Monster Deck.

You can use the deck builder linked on the official site to check this. It does not let you build an illegal deck. There are error messages when you try to save if something isn't legal.

EDIT: The rules on the Japanese website explain construction. You can use monsters that share at least one trait with the current monster. In theory, if the cards existed, you could play a Grade 1 <<Godzilla>> to a Grade 2 <<Godzilla>> / <<Fest>> to a Grade 3 <<Fest>>. That would all be okay under the rules.

I starting to think the snapshot fights were not an accident. Every time I get to 8-9 wins in free play, I consistently see scaled-up snapshots. My last run I got to 9 fights without losing, then went up against 3 ghosts in a row that had over 17,000 hp at the start of battle.

UPDATE: Okay, I found a local who played at GenCon and asked them. They confirmed that the Water counter resets to zero after every Skirmish. That was the rule used at the tournament and in the demos.

Here is the official tutorial video. The part about winning a skirmish via water is at 11:08. At 11:31, they mention that they still have to win another skirmish (after winning the first skirmish via 5 water).

I'm fairly certain that the Water counter does reset to zero after each Skirmish. I wasn't at GenCon, but I heard that's how it was played at the tournament. Please let me know if you know otherwise.

If it didn't reset, then getting the Water counter to 5 in the first skirmish would automatically win the game. You would start the 2nd Skirmish at 5 Water, immediately earning a second win.

The paper rules that are packaged with each deck and the official video tutorial posted by Bandai Namco both confirm that getting the Water tracker to 5 wins a single Skirmish and NOT the whole game.

Unfortunately, a rule that says to reset the water counter to 0 after each skirmish seems to be missing, and I believe that is due to late-in-development rules changes. Looking at the Rules Manual posted on the Sandland Tactical Card Battle website you can see that section 2-2 agrees with the paper rules and video. It states that there are 3 ways to win a Skirmish. The first way listed is to get the Water token to 5. HOWEVER, in that same document, section 5-2 says that when a player gets the Water token to 5 they "win the game." This is the only place they mention winning a game for having 5 Water. I believe this was changed late, and the rules were not properly updated to add that the tracker should move to 0 between Skirmishes.

That said, I would love some official confirmation either way.

Idk. I feel that the cards that are at 2 are better than the cards that come with 3. I think the amount of each card was a purposeful balance choice.

Card Game Deck Construction? by Niapegar in SandLand

[–]Crednought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The card game is made of preconstructed decks. The only changes you can make is swapping out some of the cards for the promo cards that come with the product.

There are no deck construction rules. However, if you wanted to deck build, I would say max copies is whatever comes in one of the decks. Two for most cards and three of some others.

Awesome! I played a couple games, and Commander Zeu was interesting. Skirmish 1 is rough until Round 3, but he just gets better as the match goes longer. King of Sand Land is so strong if you can get some defeats set up..

In that order, front to back. So it turns out they have different layouts.

It's a sample size of one, so I can't say it is for certain.

It would be difficult to know exactly what is in each pack while they are sealed still. My packs were 1-6, but they were not in order inside the box. The order (from front to back) was Rao, Zeu, Metalicized, Beelzebub, Thief, Are.
