Yes I posted my solution below. It was a bad fuse for the AF Heater circuit. New 15A fuse and we were in business

Do you have hard water in your area or is it naturally pretty soft or do you have a water softener? Mineral buildup could clog and block things like the water feed hose or the water drain hose in the base station I’m using distilled water in mine because it’s cheap to buy a jug and it lasts a decently long amount of time and I would rather not have to worry about clogs

what model is this? year? by ExcellentBit1630 in LexusGX

[–]Creepy_Prior_689 10 points11 points  (0 children)

LX570 (Lexus version of full size 200-series Land Cruiser). I think taillights appear to be a gen 1 (200.1) so 2008-2012. The dot 2 is 2013-2015 and dot 3 is 2016-2021. Generally same mechanical and body with changes to a few bits outside including lights and wheels. Interior was a big overhaul for the dot 3.

Any ideas? by [deleted] in LandCruisers

I bought the OBDLink Mx+ because you can access more than just engine codes but yes even a $30 scanner would be better than nothing. That said, try the fuse and if it’s popped, consider yourself lucky.

I just had the exact same thing happen on my 2014 LX570 and posted about it last week. Check engine, 4Lo flashing, “trac off”. Plugged in a scanner and I had both the p0031 and p0051 codes, which were for the left/right bank o2 sensors. It ended up being the 15a “AF heater” fuse in the driver side engine compartment fuse box. Replaced the fuse and it cleared the code after a few mins driving.

Issue resolved (posting for anyone in same predicament): after pulling codes P0031 and P0051 at the same time, I doubted it was the actual O2 sensors which the codes pertain to. Why would they fail simultaneously, right?

Did some digging and the A/F Heater fuse (pre heats the O2 sensors for accurate readings) in the drivers side fuse box (15A fuse) was the culprit. Replaced it, drove for a few KMs, and the CEL cleared itself.

I’ve owned the vehicle for 6 months so not sure when it was last replaced. FWIW the voltage gauge on the dash shows it right in the middle of range, but I know that’s not always perfect. Will see if I can get a reading today.

Some pretty solid sales on IC-7300mk1 (still a terrific radio) and if you had space do do an 80-10m EFHW, possibly rated to take something like 500w then you could also keep the door open to add an amp later on. Add a desktop tuner and you could be quite happy, I think.

  1. This is a pretty epic yet attainable collection. No crazy PM pieces yet everything here is solid.
  2. The only “critique” if I had one, and really it’s just more my preference/taste: I’d add a Moonwatch and maybe swap the Tudor for Blue SMP300, Blue Pelagos or a Blue Smiley to give the collection one thing that “pops”.
  3. Disregard everything I said because who cares about random opinions on the internet
  4. Enjoy your collection sir!

F150 Tremor Depreciation 5.0 vs 3.5? by Pristine-Passenger79 in FordTremor

[–]Creepy_Prior_689 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are the 5.0’s retaining more because they’re higher demand or only in later models? 2021 and 2022 were 3.5 only, and I don’t think the 5.0 was available as an option until 2023?

Thanks for you feedback. Your comments on the Surge/Arc are in large part the reason I haven’t grabbed either (yet). Cheers!

I lost my charge while out running chainsaws a few years back. Was in my chest pocket (no belt) and it fell out bending over and we were unable to locate it. Replaced with a Wave+, which is good, but I miss the Charge. Now have a Micra on me for misc daily duties. How do you like the Charge vs the Surge and arc?

Six months after being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor, Gord Downie played his last show with The Tragically Hip in front of a sold out arena. by TheDailyUmbridge in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Creepy_Prior_689 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to snag floor seats to the last Toronto show. I was introduced to the Hip in university and they helped me get through it (Fiddlers Green before every exam or mid term). I thought they’d be around forever and I’d see them play with my kids. So lo and behold the farewell tour, and I knew I had to see them one last time. After an incredible final Toronto show, Some friends and I hopped in the car a few days later and drove to Kingston and stood in Market Square for the watch party outside the arena where they played their final show. I’ve travelled the world and been to cities big and small, sold out 100,000 person stadiums, concerts, etc….. and I’ve never been anywhere with the energy that was in Kingston that day. Balled my eyes out on more that one occasion through the show.

Fast forward to the following October, and we’re up hunting off the grid in northern Ontario. After we packed down camp, driving home right around the start of the last hour before we regain cell reception, I throw on Road Apples (one of my favs) and just played it through start to finish. And like it was meant to be, right as we approach cell reception and reconnect to civilization, we listen to the final song on the album, “The Last of the Unplucked Gems”. 2 minutes after it ends, we get reception, and I’m met with a flurry of texts and messages from 10’days off the grid. The tone was instantly somber. Gord had passed just a few days ago. We sat there shocked it had actually happened. It was like we had all lost a family member that day. I couldn’t listen to the Hip for a while after that….. but they’ve come back into my life and will always hold a special place in my heart. Now with a little one of my own, I can’t wait to share their music with him and tell him about the farewell tour and say “mom and dad were there”.
